MTS12 Centre stand wear

  1. Thanks freshage.
    looking at mine it would suggest the dealer had never greased it.

    chris I appreciate what your saying. The stand is held up by the spring, so on a bumpy road is quite free to move up and down a bit.
    It is clear to see that this is the plane in which the wear had occurred, and not when the stand is down.
    maybe the spring could be stronger, or we are the only o rs that ride on bumpy roads ;)

  2. Is the lug with the most wear on the same side as the spring? if it is a stronger spring may stop it jiggling as much while your riding, but would be off set by more pressure caused by the stronger spring.
    I'm surprised Ducati didn't design it so the centre stand had a bolt on bracket / pivot, that way the frame wouldn't have to be the sacrificial part and once worn out a new one could be bolted on.

  3. Hi mate, took mine off today. And no, the wear is not even present, the bolt sits perfectly snug. And as I said, it seems as though the previous owner/dealership greased them VERY regularly and with lots to spare. Which I'm not complaining about.

  4. To wrap this thread up, the frame side member, left hand mounting bracket, pivot bolts and rubber have all been replaced at Ducats expense.
    Well done Ducati :upyeah::cool:
