MTS1200 exhaust reccomendation

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by CJS, Oct 15, 2012.

  1. Not cheap if you want the full monty - about £600

  2. Thanks Bob, that is more than i was expecting!

  3. All the exhausts need mapping . This is putting them in order.

The full termi with race ecu

The leo requires about the same amount of mapping but has less noise

The full QD requires a lot of work and the AFR on one of the cylinders will be near the upper and lower of the perscribed limits. power output depends on what size outlet is in the end of the pipe. I have seen a few sizes so far.

The mivv requires a lot of work with fuel values well outside of the perscribed values .My beef with the mivv is because apparently it needs no work (plug and play) when it is not. You may see a powergraph or AFR chart not looking too bad but this is a combined gas reading of two cylinders and shows no indication of what they are doing by themselves. One cylinder is normally around a flat 11.8-12.1 which is near 8% too rich. I for one would not want my 14 grand bike running like that with petrol washing down the cylinders and the other too lean in parts. And why has no one checked this before ? Nearly all the tuners i come across sample the AFR in the wrong place. Placement of the sensor is critical.Secondly i dont know of many others that are custom tuning these bikes. Most are flashing maps and have no facilitys to adjust.

But once the Mivv is mapped it makes very good power and smoothness just like the other brands . The mivv is also nicely priced

  4. Hi Chris, I've PM'd you before I've read your website...sorry.
Some of my questions will have been answered already.

If I went for a total remap of my ECU (your ultimate service) then I wouldn’t need the FatDucs – correct?
This means my air temp would read correctly?

    Q. With your factory ECU remap can you correct the -8% display error for the speed?
You view on which end can for the decat I’ve purchased (Leo Vince) would be appreciated.

    Q. For the Ride IN and Ride OUT full custom job typically how long does it take?

    Cheers

    Paul

  5. The fatducs shouldnt mess with your air temp display, as they fit between your o2 lamda sensors

However you will not need these if you go for a full re-map by chris at CJS

They are a good improvement over stock running, but not as good as a custom re-map, i know, as i had these before chris did me the re-map

  6. Chris will turn off the o2 sensors, making them redundant. I have taken mine off and closed the gap with copper screws/bolts.

He de-activates the exhaust valve. This in itself is great news, as this valve is the cause of a lot of surging and roughness.

Chris also closes off the air mix screws as this is set by the ECU. The only problem with this is that the dealer will adjust these during a service, leading to lots of popping and back firing. no worries, just turn them closed again when you get home.

i was happy with Chris's service having spent a whole saturday with him 9-3pm, his programs he uses is very much a lot of hockus pockus to me, but he seems to understand what he is doing and every step is checked with the dyno.

I still have the original ECU and box, so can revert to standard for MOT purposes if needed, but I love the pipe as is. Mivv ghibli.

  7. chris (cjs). if you do the business with the bike, do those new settings stay put when the bike is serviced when dealers plug in and update your bike etc. cheers budha

  8. Chris,

Can you correct the 8% speedo error when reprogramming the ECU?

    thanks

    Paul

  9. My understanding is that the "compensation" is built into the clocks. They take an accurate feed and then add a fudge factor to the speed display - this seems to bear out as my GPS agrees with the trip computer, but not the speedo.

As such it would appear to be something that can't be adjusted without knocking everything else out.
