I'm not knocking the V4's but they don't make good touring bike engines fuel consumption wise. They do make good performance engines. Poor gas mileage is the price to pay.
If you're buying a bike for gas mileage, is any Ducati bike really any good? These bikes are all about FUN!!!!

My 1200 DVT did 50mpg much of the time. I believe the 950 engine is just as good if not better. Unfortunately V4s by their design are very thirsty. Don't think anyone ever made a frugal one.
Re fuel consumption, Multi twin spark 1200 and Monster 1200r were both great on fuel. Neither were ridden gently. Took a test ride on a Tuono v4, the older litre job. Dont even think it managed 30mpg probably closer to 25. All top end too, imo the v twin configuration works better for a road bike. Not saying no to the v4, but currently looking for a good low miles ‘last generation’ v twin PP. Esp as the figures suggest 20 kg less than my GS, where the v4 has increased and is only 10kg less (wet weight). Back on track, love the new colour scheme of the v4rs, and yes, I would defo have one given to me!
Oh! I totally agree. Notwithstanding, twins are more fuel efficient than V4's. Even inline fours are more efficient than V4's as they have less moving parts. However, if power (and handling) is what you're seeking, V4's are the way to go.
OR Those parts might have been removed and given a coat of clear laquer? PPF probably makes more sense. I'd prefer satin as well TBH.
Well, very pleased so far. The agility of the RS in comparison with the other Multistrada models I’ve had is to me remarkable. Even at running in revs the engine feels remarkably urgent. I had had misgivings after my experience with my PP “Friday bike”, but I’m glad I changed from the Rally.
