Hi DB, You do not know me either but I do have some idea what you are going through as I am in a similar position. In 2016 I was diagnosed with a rare blood disorder called amyloidosis which is closely related to myeloma and is also incurable. It is treated in the same way as myeloma and I had the usual chemotherapy (VCD) which has controlled the disease for the last 5 years. My light chains have now started to climb again and I have been told I need to have another course of chemotherapy which I expect to start in a few weeks time. I am trying to follow your positive attitude and enjoy life as much as possible and just wanted to add my good wishes to those you have already received. Ps I also drive a Mini Cooper!
Whoooo hooo bring it on twinnie I have read about amyloidosis, myeloma running very very closely I did VDT in 2017 but it stopped working after 7 weeks and I went on to have ESHAP to get my protein and light chains down by half to get a stem cell transplant as that was my best chance at the time I got a good partial remission 2018
If any of you are feeling like you would like to help in anyway along with positive thoughts Have a look at giving blood and platelets Have a look at being a stem cell donor The gifts of life and love
Such a positive and strong attitute!! Keep it up and I promise to try harder to be a nicer person. Made my 41st donation this year - so worthwhile. Especially when they tell you where your blood is being used. Best wishes RR.
First week of chemo down Steroids have made me cry and laugh and feel warm and fuzzy along with vertigo and fatigue and weirdness Hot flashes in my feet But I’m still dancing and ironing and keeping my routine up all be it with a sit down in between We got this
Keep up your wonderful positive frame of mind Ducbird. I had my third immunotherapy treatment last week for my Melanoma treatment had pains in my back each time but I feel OK now. Do you like me have to drink lots of water? I have been told to drink 2.5 litres per day.
Yes I do have to drink around 6 pints a day The myeloma cells are breaking down and have to be filtered through kidneys and to keep them strong plenty of fluid I monitor on my fit bit 100floz is my goal I usually manage it daily Hydration is very good for your blood too it makes it flow better and makes giving blood easier too
My wife a cancer survivor of 20 years, my sister 6 years and my cousin 15 years. Have some understanding of what it's like for you. Sincerely wishing you all the best Xx. What struck me on my first visit to the hospital with my wife for her chemo, was the all people there waiting, all ages all nationalities, really shook me, cancer, it don't give a dam who you are or your age.
We’ll Miss D, if you find ironing a therapeutic routine, I have an absolute shedfull here. I’m sure I can borrow a van and bring them up
Aha a mark three 135G in green. 4 wheeled, Double brake with recycled plastic steel meshed hinged lid. Designed to be bear resistant. Quite common but interesting. Sort of Harley of the bin world. Poor handling, heavy and requires two to push start.
Oh 135 refers to capacity in short gallons. Only 16 fluid ounces to the pint in the USA. 20 of course in the British imperial system. Still use 8 pints to the gallon in both systems. Bins what’s not to love eh?
With good reason. Hope you’re managing to keep some mental balance if you’re isolating away from others too.
