Yeah, but at least you've kept it on the low down and not mentioned it in every single multi thread eh
If you need a pick me up try and ride the enduro to WDW and pop into the factory. When you are at the factory you'll see that they are all hand assembled, and as a result they do come with what used to be called character... but it might repair the relationship. On your list of issues the fuel sender issue also affected KTM's and others, I've never owned a KTM so cannot comment on what they are like, but I do know that the reality of owning a BM was not really that different.
A few years ago I owned a GS Adventure. Three fuel level senders in ten months tipped me over the edge and back onto a Ducati. One of the senders didn’t last until I got off the car park.
Guys, As my multi gets to nearly 5 years old and is about to click past 30,000 miles I thought I'd add my 2 pence worth. It's by far the best bike I've ever owned after a lifetime of reliable Hondas and some Aprilias. In the first three year I had a fuel sender go along with the heated grips and a throttle cable recall all at 15,000 and all done under warranty, on the extended ever red warranty the following year I had front brake reservoir and starter solenoid go and that was pretty much it apart from a few cosmetic bits and bobs once again changed under warranty. The 30,000 service price from the dealer was over £1,000 so decided to go independent. It was during that service that unusual wear on the vertical inlet cam was noticed, looks to be a problem with the case hardening going, no chance of goodwill with it being at an independent and with the cam, follower and rockers costing over £900 new I found some second hand bits for £200 and got them fitted. I did the oil, oil filter and air filter myself and the rest was done by the indie for less than £400. Since new it has not needed a valve adjusting and after nearly 30,000 mile I've finally had to replace the rear sprocket and front brake pads. Finally the mud guard had worn through the braiding on the brake hose that links the two front calipers together so got one made up locally. Numerous trips to Scotland and Europe, thrashed down back roads and the A roads of north Yorkshire and I am over the moon. Here is to another 30,000 mile ! Well, I have to add something here as there are lots of people disappointed in MTS1200 and I am not sure why? I owned it for 6 years and did not have any issues beside heated grips gone and fixed them I am in western Canada, and Canada is big, roads quality is far from Europe but this is a right bike for them. I went on almost western Canada roads, went to Alaska and back, fantastic ride with this bike, riding on urban mode on daily commute to work, in the fall I go on logging roads as its cooler, yes bigger engine heats up and thats normal. Incredible ride on highways, fantastic acceleration, it is pleasure to smoke the Harley's and others, pushed to the max speed, you name it. Riding on logging road is beyond my expectations for this big bike and I can carry a passenger too. When it comes to maintenance, its all normal, tires, chain,, sprockets, filters, oil, valve adjustments, belts etc. I am not really doing everything as suggested cause I fix it by myself and parts are not worn out cause I am not racing, so winter I mostly do the maintenance as dealer are brutally expensive. THIS MACHINE IS PERFECT FOR EVERYDAY COMMUTE AND NOBODY WANTS TO MENTION THIS AWESOME FEATURE ON THIS GREAT BIKE. Tried BMW and KTM, great bikes but not for town ride like MTS1200, and far not same acceleration and curve handling, and not to mention design as it turns lots of heads, ladies like it a lot. Yes it is a bit rough but learned to ride it on slower speeds, it not 250cc. So its my bike for everything, 50000+km, regular maintenance, that's all you need. Only trading it in for Enduro as there a lots of logging road fun here in British Columbia. suggesting anyone to ride western Canada, fantastic..let me know if you are around and plan to come over.
Good to hear another positive review. I've been to BC and Alberta many times for work and pleasure and I absolutely love the place (my daughter has just returned from working in Fernie for the ski season). Would love to do a bike trip there, but only seem to be able to get Harleys and maybe Beemers to rent. Any insights into Ducati rentals ? Bow cycles in Calgary will rent you one, but only on the condition that if you bin it you buy it which is not a practical options for someone from overseas.
Yes, I know, its not easy to rent bikes here besides Harleys, Maybe guys from Vancouver can help you, our Kelowna dealer will not rent Multi. I was planning to rent my out when I get the second and organizing tours, I am not at that point yet, so far V-strom and Tenere is available in Kelowna.
I've kept mine after had sensor issue in 2017 was a quick fix and not expensive. Be 5 years old in Feb. Was going to out it when the sensor went. But its too good had a great summer on it. Nothing I've tested since I've had it compares. The skyhook is superb and its so much fun in sports mode . If it doesn't let me down going to keep it for ever
