1200 Multistrada Tyres

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Mark_h, Mar 13, 2019.

  1. Which tyres did you mean.

  2. no levers, very posh machines with all the bike kit required, they fit tyres to the local specialist car places so cant afford to use crap and mark the wheels, theyve done my tyres for years, including all my car ones, my van ones as well, maybe this is why they look after me but yes £10 a wheel for tyres I supply, if I buy tyres from them its included

  3. the Road Techs Paddy has had fitted

  4. That is a very good price. It's a no brainer for you apart from removing your own exhaust system & wheels. The fronts are easy to scratch taking the calipers off. But I guess it sounds like you have done this many times. :upyeah::upyeah::upyeah:

  5. Are those the tyres from Italy. If so be careful as they are for left hand drive. :p:p:p

  6. well I've used them for near 30 years now....right from my GPZ 550 :grinning:, My posh OZ's from my Aprilia, and every bike in between
On the Multi the back end is a 5 min job, the front is more involving, as you say the calipers are very tight, but I'd rather do it myself than leave it to someone else...OCD I think...:worried:

  7. No I've known many tyre fitters scratch wheels. You do right.

  8. I wouldn't bank on the Road 5's lasting that well Chas, especially 2 up, I got just shy of 3k from the rear on last year's tour and about 5k from the front. Off to Portugal next week and back on PR4's for that one, didn't find any benefit from durability or grip that warranted the 5's price premium.

  9. The roadtec's have come down in price & I think the invoice I grabbed for my ducati was from 2017. Still at least I now know I'm saving anywhere from £50>80 per set of tyres by doing the spannering myself.

  10. Different bike I know but some GS riders are reporting lower miles from the Road5s than expected, esp the backs ( as usual).

  11. I get my tyres from alltyres 365 or Oponeo. Think I paid £115 for a Michelin Rd 5 and £10 for fitting and disposal.

  12. There are two types of rear 01's, my enduro can only have the standard type. However there is a hard-wearing one which lasts longer.

  13. I usually use Tyreleader or Oponeo and recently paid £86 for a front PR4 which I fitted myself, our council still accept up to 5 used tyres at their recycling centres, so a good saving all round.

  14. My accessory dealer who caters mostly to the sportbike community charges CAN $7 (4 GBP) to mount and balance a new tire purchased.

His tire prices are also one of the best around and he stocks and moves quite a bit of them as a result.
You must bring the wheel for them to mount the new tire. Consequently, purchasing a quality front and rear stand will pay for itself quickly in addition to the convenience of having them for home maintenance.

  15. I’ve got Avon 3DXM on mine. Done 3000 miles to far. Hardly look worn. These are currently on offer at M@P for £139.99 a pair. So £160 all in fitted to loose wheels

  16. As above - Avons, on my second set from m&p. Got just shy of 11k out of my first set. Great tyres, great value.

  17. Finishing up a set of Dunlop roadsmart 3's. 6000 miles and the rear is good for another 500. Front cupping some but not unusual. I may go with angel gt I used on another bike with much better life and I thought grip was fine too.

  18. Been interesting reading all of this so thought I might as well give my 2penneth.
Currently on Road 5’s. Another pair going on in next 2 weeks.
Currently done 5540 miles and 1.2mm till I hit the wear markers.
I can’t believe how good they are in almost every situation I’ve thrown at them. From nearly 8 hours of torrential rain going to the Ardeche to 28 degree heat around the N/Ring.
    Amazing!
I ride my Mut like I stole it too.!
I’d like a little quicker turn in. That’s all. Even after dropping the yokes 5mm.
Compared to the PR4’s they’ve lasted longer, by almost 1k miles and have a lot less squirm when leant over and hard on the throttle. The 4’s are nonetheless bloody good too.
We’ve all got our opinions and at the end of the day, we all like what we like.
If it’s down to £££’s then go with your wallet. There are some good deals to be had.
Be handy if we had a “fitters list” on the forum where we can go by recommendation.

    Cheers y’all.!
