V4 Multistrada V4rs

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by outintheopen, Aug 9, 2023.

  1. What were the essential bits? Exhaust I’m guessing as one?

  2. None were essential. But yes the exhaust system was one. Most of the rest were things that are standard on the V4S, plus some of the bits I have on mine.

  3. Beacuse it doesn't include headers.

  4. Looking at detailed pictures, it looks like an easy fit, but the seat looks a different shape, so that might be needed too.

The RS unit looks to be 3 pieces whereas the PP is one.

  5. Be another £2K for the headers …. Like the Diavel/SF and Panigale V4’s

  6. How much performance difference would replacement headers actually make ? Andy

  7. No idea, more weight loss I presume ! Just saying the Multi exhaust is a mere £3k without headers and the Diavel £5k full system.

  8. Perhaps in this case with the Desmosedicci engine however the power between the V4S and the Pikes Peak are the same.

  9. Thats true the power outputs of both V4S and PP are the same but they have different part numbers for the camshafts eg front bank intake for the V4S is 14816151A and that for the PP is 14816531A. Likewise with the exhaust camshaft its 14816161A and 14816541A, which indicates there is a difference and I suspect it's a slightly different profile on the lobes giving different engine characteristics.

When I first discovered this amazingly boring fact  (it was a slow day) there was a question as to whether or not the parts may be interchangeable. As the parts diagram now (so I've just discovered) lists both options for either bike (before it just listed one option for the respective bike), I suspect they are interchangeable.

You never know this useless info may come in handy for a pub quiz one day:joy:

  10. I had a play on Thursday as well, now that I know the racing system is the same, everything I have on mine would be compatible, so it’s just the cost of the bike for me. I’m still not getting one though. Yet.

  11. Ditto. Dealer convinced me to keep the faith as its not costing me anything and can cancel after seeing it in the flesh in Brum.......maybe shouldn't go :D

  12. If money isn’t an issue, then why not?

  13. Not necessarily, check the invoice for your exhaust system. Old part numbers 96481791CA or 96481791AA won't be compatible. New part number is compatible 96482291AA. So even though the old ones will most likely fit fine, the map prob won't transfer.

  14. Ducati has done a great job with its Supersport 950 S. I believe its just a matter of time before it gets a big brother.
I'm just guessing here but I think the Multi V4 Pikes Peak (and this RS) is the last of the breed if a Supersport V4 becomes available.
The Multi will go back to being in the ADV Touring line-up.

  15. Glad they've moved the indicators from the handguards & mirror stalks too sides. Heated mirrors added yet?

  16. Mine said if he was in the same position he wouldn’t bother!

  17. Money doesn’t come into it, you’re actually getting less for the money, in the real world.

  18. Blimey, you must have mentioned about a supersport V4 about a hundred times lately. It ain’t happening. I’ve put a deposit down on a V4 Scrambler.

  19. It's because of my demetia. Repeating myself is annoyingly redundant.
I need help. I see rationality in riding motorcycles.
