V4 Multistrada V4rs

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by outintheopen, Aug 9, 2023.

  1. Just saying more about the machine. It is a tourer performing at peak which had a hell of a wobble, 200 bhp would make it awful. It's good as is, they could easily put more power in with the desmo but they have chosen not to. The RS is about 'exclusivity' as they keep banging on about with their marketing.

    Nice, yes. Better? Subjective.

I can't wait for an aftermarket arse end though

  2. You’ve ordered an RS?

  3. It’s not even a PP really either is it ;)

  4. So I'm looking at a Full Akra system for the 2024 MTS V4RS. I notice the part # for all the V4 multys with a center stand ( 96482291AA) is EXACTLY the same as the part number that the Ducati Configurat gives for the MTS RS (96482291AA). But definitely not the same number as the Pangigale V4 ( 96482001A) or the Streetfigher (96482251AA).

Does that seem strange to anybody else given the RS is using the same engine as the Pani & SF and not the "other" Multistradas??????????

They do not have a price posted in the Configuration yet show it to be an option.... Pani & SF exhausts are $$$$ ( circa $7000 to $8200) while the "regular" MTS is 'only" $3690....... in USD of course

Can someone enlighten me re this subject please.

    Cheers, D

  5. Same hardware configuration as all the v4 multis with different map. V different layout to pan or Sf. Or so I've been told

  6. Even the full system from my 22 PP won’t fit the RS, so that’s another reason not to get one, for me.

  7. Really? Even with relevant maps and transfer by dealer?

  8. Nope, apparently not. Only the Akra part number from the last 3 months or newer will “fit”.

  9. Multirider75 - I gathered the same thing. I've been back & forth on Part #'s for the "Desmo Stradale" engine & bikes. It appears that the frame and or "other items" precludes use. The Configurator still shows "PRICE TBD",,,,,,aka figure it will be mucho dinero .

  10. It’s physically the same exhaust system, but will use a different map. Rather than being helpful and producing two maps for those of us with an existing exhaust, Ducati want to rinse us for a second time, which I think is a complete piss take.

  11. Just to keep things confusing, Ducati lists different part numbers for the Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 "Exhaust Manifolds"(that's what Ducati calls them) or header. The Pikes Peak (et al with the GT engine) V4 has a different part number from the Panigale & Streetfighter as well.

It should also be noted that the "pre-silencer" (aka CAT) for the Pikes Peak V4 versus the Streetfighter V4/Panigale carry different part numbers and have differing locations for connections to the Exhaust manifolds. Pani-SF CAT.jpg Pikes Peak CAT.jpg .

Makes me wonder exactly how the "older" Multistrada Akra race system - even with new part # - can fit on the MTS V4RS (even with a newer map as Multirider75 indicates)...... They just don't look like the same physically to me.......................... I'll find out once I talk this over with my dealer.

  12. The Panigale and Streetfighter, although they have the same engine as the RS, have completely different frames and chassis, so there’s no chance they’ll share exhaust systems with the Multistrada.

  13. The V4RS isn't the same engine as the Streetfighter, it's a Multi engine with a different top end.

  14. A direct quote, lifted off the Ducati web site.

The Multistrada V4 RS is the only Multistrada to be powered by the Desmosedici Stradale, the MotoGP-derived engine used on the Panigale and the Streetfighter, smooth and uniform at low to medium revs, electrifying at high rpm. The Multistrada V4 RS version delivers maximum power of 180 hp, ten more than the Multistrada V4.

  15. We can all copy and paste? Look at the pictures, for a start, the oil sight windows on the RS and SF are on opposite sides, the bottom ends are very very different. Then look at the RS and a PP and see how remarkably similar they are.

  16. It's probably the internals that are the same I reckon.

  17. The MTS V4 RS is a few years late IMO. Not to pour cold water on this excellent development, this is what it should have been when introduced in 2020. Frankly and only imho, the ADV segment is losing steam. I have an awesome MTS 1260 Pikes Peak with a V2 Desmo engine. When the time comes, it's going to be replaced by a SuperSport Desmo V4 should Ducati build a big brother to its excellent SS 950S. However, If I were to stay in the ADV realm, I would choose the Beemer M-XR for sure. Especially for the price difference.

  18. I've just switched from BMW to Ducati. I was weighing up the new M XR against the PP. The M XR was still awaiting launch but I'd assumed it would have the same active suspension (Marzocchi) as the S1000RR. My experience with Marzocchi was woeful hence me looking for something with decent suspension out of the box. But you pay the price for quality.

  19. Interesting comment you made that you think the ADV segment is loosing steam. As I started biking in my late 30s when it was all fireblades and gixers which eventually gave way to ADV bikes; which I gravitated too for comfort as I got older. As the ADV segment has been strong for around 15 years , a lot of younger riders who are now in their mid 50s have only been riding ADV style bikes. If the segment runs out of steam (which I dont disagree with) what type of bikes will become more popular for the over 40s and the over 50s

  20. Agree plenty of life in adventure and naked bike sector and will probably see out most of us over next 10-15 years and then that'll be that for mainstream biking in UK at least. As been discussed endlessly very very few under 50s riding in uk these days for shitloads of reasons. might be lots sports bikes and healthy, flexible enthusiasts etc on forums but that's tiny minority of people biking. In the meantime, I'm going to fill my boots and spend kids inheritance (still on V4RS list for Feb delivery unless i change my mind) for as long as I can sling my leg over for next decade or more :upyeah::)
