848 My New 848 Track Bike

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by Dave, May 2, 2014.

  1. put a 1098 in it.....

  2. Some sharper pads in the brakes for track and you'll prob be fine unless you are proper fast. Just done 3 days at Almeria on my 848 and it didn't miss a beat it felt rock solid and very much enjoyed chasing down the s1000rr's / hp4's through the corners and got 161mph on the back straight so you won't be disappointed in it at all.

Good price that as well......... :upyeah:

  3. Those brakes, with a good mc and race pads, are more than enough. And imho give kore feel than the monoblocks which give lots of bite

But slipper clutch a must :upyeah:

  4. What does a decent slipper clutch cost fitted, any ideas ?

  5. Depends, i sold my used one to nelson so there are some around, or its c£800

  6. DP slipper clutch is about £450.

  7. Dave,

Well done sir, that is a nice bit of kit. I have exactly the same solution as you know as the D16 is unusable in the UK. My 848 is a really nice track bike, and if you drop it, parts are readily available and cheap. Hell you can replace an engine if it blows for less than the cost of a rearset on the Desmo!

That's a nice build. I have a sigma wet slipper in mine FWIW and it's excellent. Has lasted ages too. I saw that one advertised recently. I wish I had looked for an 848 track bike before I converted mine - as it used to be my road bike and it was a good road bike. Had I looked, I would have kept that for the road and bought a new one for not much more than it cost to covert it! Oops......

Maybe have to get an 899 challenge bike next year :upyeah:

  8. The Sigma slack bladders sold me is top draw...You fit it and forget it!
I put mine in myself with some excellent tech support from Sigma....:Bookworm:

  9. Down 3 gears and dump the clutch...lovely controlled slides...love it ;)

  11. Thats what roundabout are for ;)

  12. thanks for all the slipper clutch info, yet another thing to add to the list ! I think the 2 things I missed the most on track was the slipper and a quick action throttle.

  13. Here are some more pictures of loveliness.

Being an old Ducatisti.co.uk stalwart however, I realise that I should have haggled hard with sammytt and got him to throw in the wheelie bin as part of the deal. Missed opportunity :Arghh:
