959 My New 959..

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Simon Gray, May 21, 2017.

  1. How do you hold the heat shield in place ?

  2. That is because you didn't put the conical spacers back in. Photo below shows one on (furthest) and one off (nearest). With those put back on it is spaced perfectly.

  3. Great picture thanks, I'm doing this with my tail tidy at the weekend. So assume those spacers just pull away from the rear pegs when you remove them.

  4. Normally they stay on the shield, but if not put them back on. Just be careful they don't run off down the heat shield and hide themselves behind the shock linkage or on top of the exhaust.... spent 20mins looking for one of mine!

  5. No I didn't forget to fit anything sorry.

The 959 pillion pegs don't have or require conical spacers

My 1299 system DOES have them though.

959 pillion pegs don't touch the shield anywhere and spacers are bottomed out inside hole in bracket - a perfect fit.

959 pillion pegs with 1299 spacers look ridiculous and nowhere near bottomed out.

A tapered spacer wouldn't usually be fitted to a straight drilled hole either.

As you can see it was Originally a much tighter fit than as demonstrated with the extra spacer

Like I said a little washer is enough to keep the shield raising up too much and rubbing against the undertray.

    Cheers

  6. I don't know why the difference. My 959 and 1299 were exactly the same. Strange.

  7. Mine didn't have them and if they were fitted the gap would have been horrendous and the bolt about 10mm too short.

  8. Hi guys new to this site, just bought a 959 and was wondering does anyone have any recommendations for frame sliders etc?

  9. Introduce yourself in the newbies section Dave and welcome.

  10. I think the best option is the R&G one... I havent fitted myself yet but recall they do non drill ones that use existing holes. My trouble is I like the lines of the bike so much so for now I'm just being careful.. lol!
