The issue with endurance/Cibie lamps is they're not road legal. As this is a road bike I needed a proper CE marked light. This one has full/dipped beams, a sidelight, and is CE marked ;-)
I'm sure I've seen Cibies running H4's with sidelights and CE markings. I'll have a hunt online and see what I can turn up. EDIT: Cibie Oscar H4 for example - dip/main, sidelight, CE marked.
im with Doodle on this i like the light but it looks a bit like an after thought ,i would have gone for a shalower bracket to bring the light closer to the faring , but thats just me i have got mine flush with the fairing but im not after a edurance racer look. i would run without lights and go for a daylight mot
The beauty of Nick's current headlight setup is that he has the choice of either riding with it, or without, without cutting a hole in the fairing to recess all, or part of the light. If you look at how the bracket is fixed, you'll see it is only held with the fairing mounting fastener, meaning there is only a single point of release, likewise note the electrical connections. A ten second job to remove all trace of the light - the whole purpose of the design! The beauty of the 'look' of it is that it screams its very temporary nature and that it is specifically designed simply to conform to regulations - nothing else - its primary purpose is not to leap some subjective aesthetic hurdle, simply to get over a legislative one. It will no doubt be appreciated that with the skills at Radical's disposal and those that Nick has clearly displayed, any of the above mentioned lighting solutions are very clearly within their range of abilities - but the temptation to go down the safer, more established, widely accepted, route is a temptation they have heroically resisted - Brilliant!
Great Job Nick-love it. Personally I have always lusted after a TT1 or TT2-but you still nead to find a Pantah or varient to use a a base. As to the lights issue, when I had my 1078SS built at JHP I decided to do without lights or indicators-the bike was mainly a track bike with road capability. John
Cheers And now the weather's improved I can put some miles on it! It'll be fun carrying luggage to Spa this year
I've had more satisfaction building this bike and sorting through all the issues than anything else I can remember! Do it, at times you'll pull your hair out but it's worth it!
holy mother of god : here it is : The bike of the year 2013 ! Nick , you have no idea how much i would like to be able to build such a thing.. man man, now this is a special !
