Last year when i owned a 1199 i did an insurance quote for a 1098R and it was £1300+ even from mce. For comparison i pay £500 for my multibike currently. As im bored today ive just requoted and its £500 . Seems wierd bearing in mind ive had a non fault write off (1199) since the frst quote. All i need now is some balls and ill buy one
I wouldn't accept loosing £120 , ask them to explain how they arrived at this cost , is it a reasonable charge ? If not fight them. If they misrepresented the bike then send them a bill for your costs traveling to view etc and take them to the small claims court.
Ok I've just went on to e bay and the bike is advertised as " factory paint job" this is clearly misrepresentation. I would send a letter demanding return of your money plus payment of your costs, fuel, time , etc and proceed to small claims. I can understand a firm caught out by a damaged bike but they should admit a mistake was made and sort it. In my view they don't give a dam or the advert would be reworded and any viewers would be advised of the bikes history. I'm afraid I would be a grumpy bear. Roar. In fact I would be tempted to make a sign and stand outside their property until they backed down.
I think it may depend on your understanding of 'factory paintjob'. I haven't seen the add. Just sayin.....
I see it actually says 'factory finished'. Fair enough; that's misleading imo. I do think a 'factory paintjob' refers to a factory race team replica, but this add doesn't say that.
I'd be doing all I could to get the money back! 'Admin fee' is utter bollox! They're charging you for attempting to fuck you over!
If you are prepared to travel this way, I can wholeheartedly recommend Carl Harrison Motorycle Services - Welcome I've known Carl personally for many many years and he has an exemplary reputation for being one of the most knowledgeable and trustworthy companies to deal with and his experience with Ducatis is vast. He often gets 1098Rs or 999Rs in stock that pass through his showroom and he currently has a 998R and a fabulous Bimota, which I have seen in the flesh when I was last down there and whoever the original owner was, they've really looked after it. Might be worth a call as he often knows of specific models that may be for sale, if you're set on the 1098R. Hope you get your money back and happy hunting.
