Oi Darren, you told me you were going to take care of her!!! Made me cringe as I started reading your post, I was relieved to get to the bit where you'd pulled it up safe and sound I was expecting an unhappy ending! Glad you're enjoying it though and yes you will have to master blipping the throttle on aggressive downshifts. One of the first things I noticed on the Daytona was that its much easier to get right than the 848. Your in good hands here by the way this is a great forum hence i am still checking in. All the best, Gary.
l Yeah she is pampered, as you saw in the pictures I sent you she was fully stripped down to engine and frame to totally clean her, even polished the insides of the fairings and all nuts, bolts and fixings, she is looking mint. Ordered DP carbon belly pan and mudguard that should be with me tomorrow so making my own mark on her. And now I know about the aggressive down shifts it's ok, just that first time it took me by surprise with the twin torque but learning heaps more about her personality each time I take her out and my post sounds a bit more dramatic than it actually was. After it happened I said to myself "ohh you little fighter" haha. I like the way she makes you on point and really ride her to get the best out of her and then she will do anything you tell her. The Daytona is happy to lead and is easy to ride spirited with a bit faster turn in but the 848 wants you to take it by the horns and comand her which is great fun. When your flowing on the 848 there is no better feeling and blipping on down shifts is no hardship as it sounds so sweet when you do it.
Good lad glad you're enjoying it. Yes you do have to really take control of the 848 much more than the Daytona which is so so easy to ride in comparison it almost feels like I'm back on a BMX throwing it around, slamming on the brakes and just whacking the throttle open. The 848 does take more effort, finesse and general learning of its character before you can ride it as hard but when you do it's bloody rewarding I thought I would be converting the Daytona straight away for track use but actually enjoying it so much I'm getting out on the road a bit with it until proper winter kicks in when it'll be transformed. Can't wait to get it on track though it's gonna be great. (Just a shame it doesn't have that 848 soundtrack )
