  2. Look, I'm not out to bash anyone or their taste in bikes and I agree that the new 959 exhaust looks shite but there are ways to resolve that. Some cheaper than others. If I bought one I would get a set of used 1299 cans and lower fairing and be on my way, but I know lots of other people wouldn't be prepared to do that. I just think hopefully people can see past those cans for what is likely to be a cracking bike. You're right though, you shouldn't spend £13k on a bike to have to immediately have to spend a load more cash just to get it looking the way it should have done from the factory. I think we have our Euro4 friends to thank for that...

Luckily my Pani has been 100% reliable so far (minus a dead battery!)

Oh and I do like the look of the new GSXR btw...

  3. I like the GSXR styling. Its iconically Japanese, no shame in that. The new 1000 looks even better. I'd love a gsxr750 personally.

  4. actually agree matt everyone to their own, I'm not sure if 1299 parts will fit the 959 , think ducat have got it wrong big style.

  5. Yep, they have, which is a real shame. I guess sales numbers will speak for themselves! Ducati must be monitoring people's opinions and I'm sure they're probably a little worried...

  6. That GSXR silencer makes the standard 959 ones look brilliant

  7. If that GSXR is 10k I'll eat my own hair!!!! And the only reason the current one is that price is because they haven't changed up in years! I too am a GSXR fan but they are built like cheap sh*t! Rubber brake hoses, brembo's that as standard have NO feel, faux carbon effect plastics around the tank that are Velcro'd on..

Basically I think any one who constantly goes on about how shit Ducati's are should leave the Ducati forum and go and join the 'gixxer boyz' in it, pulling mingers and laying black lines....

  8. o_O which bit?

  9. The bit we have seen before, the front... In 2004 (k4) I imagine!

Honestly I was desperately hoping they released something that looked like the GP bike which is stunning!

Again, love suzuki's but we can't sit knocking the 959 when the Suzuki range is going nowhere fast

  10. And it's a "concept" at that ! What the chuff have the stylists been doing for 12 years, what a bloody snoozefest

  11. JimBob the Troll. The whole 'unreliable, it's just character' thing is not applicable to modern Ducatis any more than any other brand. They are just as reliable and often better made.
The 959 has potential to be one of the best and most well balanced bikes out there but the exhaust is bloody terrible and would make me consider all the other cheaper options as why pay a premium for something that's butt ugly, and paying an extra grand or two to replace the exhaust puts it way out of acceptable price range for what it is.

  12. So if you buy the 959 with the side cans which meet the euro4 regulations, then take them off and buy some sort of after market belly can arrangement - which don't meet the regulations, and some different lower fairings to match and neaten it all up. What happens when you rock up to MOT it in 3 years time without the sidewinders attached?

  13. Just been having a conversation at work, saying exactly the same thing.
This is VW group now so emissions wont matter, lol

  15. and for the reord royal with cream, I think the panni is the best looking bike out there apart from 959, but my opinin on reliability comes from mine 1199 being in for warranty work at least 10 times, in 6k miles, and I went to buy a 1199 tricolore last week ,, two actually and none of the owners/dealers could tell me if the milage on the clocks was correct and that the clocks on the bike were the first set or not, I know mine and many many many others had clock changes and the milage is not added to the new set, so my concern is how many pannis out there are not showing the correct milage ,,, troll out,

  16. Most mot stations don't care about bikes and euro emissions or noisy exhausts. Never had an issue, just the odd advisory on the exhaust so they can say they attempted to do their job right.

  17. lol every MOT I've had has been hilarious. Has it got two wheels - check. Looks like a motorbike - check.

    Yep it's passed.

  18. That's true. How confident are you that it will still be true in three or four years' time?

  19. I've also known mot stations that let you bring the original exhaust in with the bike, leave it in the car boot but as long as they can eyeball it then they're happy. I suppose then they can just say you swapped it after MOT and that's not the exhaust you passed it with.

I can't really see much changing unless plod start pulling you, doing a roadside emissions test and fining you. Other than that, people will just test using the OEM exhaust and ride straight home to swap it

  20. With bikers wanting smaller bikes than the bigger cc/power options, will buyers want a smaller capacity sportsbike, now the 959 is near the size of the original 999 etc? As before, the 999 had too much power, so the 749 was bought instead.
