959 New 959

  1. Can I just get this straight?

You buy a motorcycle and then need to immediately pay another £2000-£3000 on top, to stop it looking so ugly that it reduces you to tears whenever you look at it?

Are any other motor vehicle manufacturers doing things this way?

  2. I am the the only person in the country with standard cans. You all change your cans. It's not a new concept to change things you don't like.
It's only a couple of big ass bits that all bikes will soon have.

  3. Still have the standard cans on my Multistrada. There are things I would sooner spend money on to be honest.

It's going to be so easy for aftermarket manufacturers to make reasonably priced cans to fit the 959 but I have gotten to quite like the twin can look to be truthful.

  4. Agreed, but Akra is less on the 1299, and the bike itself is significantly more expensive than the 959
Not sure also if underslung Akra on 959 is road legal either ?

  5. Arrow and Austin racing etc are going to come out with some superb looking exhausts for the 959 I am sure, and without removing the cat it may not be necessary to remap the bike as the fuelling may not be significantly altered. So... It may work out very well...

  6. Would fitting this type affect the warranty?

  7. I would assume so yes, but... In the old days that's what people did

  8. Easy enough to quickly change an end can back if you had too.

  9. You should have a look at the sort of crafted electric guitar you could get for £2600. That kind of money for a few bits of tube is just ridiculous. But of course, there aren't many options and you can't use a Gibson instead of Akras. So it is priced at what the market will bear, and there are many who will stump up the cash simply for pride of ownership. But when you do, just be aware that everyone can see the jackass ears sticking out of your head.

The encouraging thing is that despite everyone whinging about the state of government and the economy, there are still plenty of people with enough cash for this sort of project, so things can't be too bad. That should cheer up us no end.

  10. Fortunately I got mine in the December promotion, I wouldn't have paid that much for them.
Maybe a third of the price would've tempted me.

  11. Agreed, they are properly expensive! Personally I wouldn't have got termi's/Akrapovics on a new bike unless it was in the promotion!! Fortunately they have done the proportions each year which means lots of used bikes with the fancy exhausts on :)

  12. I had a look at Leovince and Arrow this am, because u know they will release some absolutely lovely exhausts for the 959, without needing to remove the cat may well mean that the fuelling doesn't need to be changed

  13. Has anyone here bought or ordered the 959?

  14. I think you meant to say 'is anyone going to ADMIT they've bought or ordered one!' ;)

  15. The exhaust is only one tiny little bit of the bike. The reviews are good.

  16. And actually we need to get over it because euro 6 has a 80db noise limit......... I just mowed the lawn with an electric mower that is 96db!!!!!

  17. 80db? surely not or is that a joke?

  18. I know, i thought euro legislation was mostly about emissions but I guess noise also! We are 4 years away still, and the bods will find ways around it. It does mean that the bikes will have to go up in weight, or more exotic materials used.

  19. I really dislike the trend in raising weight and larger engines to get around these things. One of the best things for me with the 1x99 Panigale is the no compromise on the weight reduction.
