959 New 959

  1. I'm not sure I could tell the difference between the two bikes, honestly, I'm not sure I could, a bit more mid range, 4mm lower swingarm pivot..... If it had 10-15 hp more I might but I'm not sure I could with this

  2. Went to the dealers today in Bristol to have a closer look, unsurprisingly the demo bike has the aftermarket akro's on (still side mounted) & the model in the showroom has the stock pipes on. Strange that !

  3. Before a trawl, anyone want to remind me the price of the akra? £1k

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  4. It wouldn't surprise me if they were offering them for free long before that.

  5. I wouldn't get carried away with 7bhp more its 7kg heavier and 1 down on the rear sprocket so that's the faster acceleration up the spout,

  6. Would you give these two a new bike to promote?

  9. I put a larger rear sprocket on the rear of my 1199 last year and the bike wheelies less surprisingly. I think it's because in general around town and on tracks I'm not familiar with I'm going at the same speed as before but I've dropped out of the sweet spot of the power band so it's not wheeling like it used to. I've found that the stock gearing is actually better for my riding style on the road and when not going so quick on track. It's only when I've got used to a track and start to go faster that I find the new gearing is beneficial.
Perhaps with the 959 with it's lower gearing it's doing a similar thing in reverse, dropping the average road ride into the sweet spot more, taking into account the extra power as well?

(I just posted another thread with the 44 tooth vid so sorry for reposting admin!)

  10. I went 2 up on the rear of my 899,now changed back to standard gearing, imho the 899 gearing is pretty good standard and gearing it down is of no benefit for the road or the bigger tracks.

  11. Useful as I nearly bought a 2 tooth bigger rear sprocket for mine and then kind of decided it wasn't worth it.

Did it make it easier to ride in town at all? That's the only reason I would do it, like the trick with the 14t on the 848

  12. Phill if you want a +2 rear sprocket pm me your address and i will send you my old one,it is of no use to me as its for the standard wheels.I did find i was hitting the limiter a lot with the +2,but my main gripe was on track it seemed i was never in the right gear a lot of the time, like nicking 4th or 5th only to drop it back down straight away, just felt it needed a little more legs, hope that makes sense.

  13. I'm convinced the 959 is an improvement on the 899. The Pani is a sexy family. The 959 will sell and you will pay the grand for the akra. If you got a bigger wrist, get the 1199 or the 1299. Go for an S if you got the money. The 899 is a lovely thing. I'm overloading on Ducati.

The scrambler's are just so bloody cool. Look at the scrambler range, you will have a preference and will imagine riding one. Ducati have nailed it big time. Made me smile like a caravan site attendant. Dump your carbon bike and buy one, you won't regret it.

Anyway, I'm away to have another dream.

  14. That video is dreadful. It's like "MAX POWER!!!!" magazine for bikes. The Baron Von Grumble stuff was amusing in a "ha, yeah, I agree with that / that happens to me" kind of way, but this is just some kind of Nathan Barley clone with a bike and a video camera, and his unfunny mate.

Jesus wept how did things get this bad?

  15. Probably for another thread but I sort of agree, I like von grumble, I love the 44 teeth web design and what they were trying to do but if u look at the videos they have progressively become 'less professional' is possibly the way to put it, they always had a bit of innuendo and came across as quite funny which is cool but now they have gone a bit far.

All I would say is they are doing a great job of getting something out there even if it doesn't always hit the spot, so I don't want to troll them, just that perhaps I agree it's shifting its audience

  16. I agree, there's been a shift
Probably, and this is just an assumption, more product testing means more endorsements and more free stuff

  17. By going mainstream you have to be careful that you don't alienate the audience that made you "big" in the first place.

Sorry, but it's a "no" from me...
