New Bike Day ....

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Mark_h, Mar 1, 2019.

  1. Aha. I totally agree. Also, how the previous owner could not have noticed the upside down sticker/bar clamp is beyond me :astonished:

  2. Great looking bike, congrats.

  3. Upside down AND crooked.

  4. Welcome to our Ducati forum enjoy your new steed
I went wales last year for a long weekend you will not be disappointed the place is fantastic

  5. Stuck a tank full of fuel through it yesterday. First session in the damp with my son on pillion. Second session solo on dryer roads. WHAT A MACHINE!!!

Adjusted the gear lever down a lot to make changing slicker and fewer false neutrals. Also seemed to be a lot of initial free-play in the throttle. Adjusted it to the minimum recommended in the book to see if that helps me smoothen out my pull away.

Wired in the sat-nav. How over the top is the means of insulating those little tails? 1mm cable with sufficient packaging on the end to ensure it would survive a direct hit from a nuclear device. Don't understand the logic there but after a lot of messing about managed to liberate the wires. Bit of a tight fit getting the Garmin wiring and power adapter in behind the cover but eventually got it all in and tidy.

Is there a charger lead secreted anywhere on the bike as standard? Don't want to go directly wiring in an optimate flylead if there is a decent one hidden somewhere already. Nothing in the manual and Google seems a bit vague on the topic.

What's the plastic coated wire with the loops on it for? I have a minimal tool-kit which consists of the chain adjuster, 2 alan keys, a spanner and the strange wire thing.

Need to do something about the screen though as it buffets something horrible if I have my visor up. Probably try the spacers first as it's the cheapest, easiest thing to try. Anyone got a spare set kicking about for a 4 hole 2013 bike?

Chucking it down today unfortunately so will need to do all the domestic stuff I managed to avoid yesterday.

  6. Right, here are some rather hurried suggestions. They sort of run into each other but Google Maps seemed to run out of shaping nodes, so in three parts.

    Part 1
    Part 2
    Part 3

Somewhat biased on start and end points but coming from Hampshire you might not be dissimilar. Not sure how many days you'll be in Wales... If you're passing by Ledbury and I'm free and weather is OK then I'd be sorely tempted to join you for part of that day. Have dogs so can only get away for about 4-5 hours maximum without arranging kennelling.
