Loads. We are talking Gen 2 here not the pseudo S gen 1 version with same forks. Gen 2 are manually adjustable, as it shook be in a real sports/race bike, not sure if same forks as the SL1? They used much of the motor from SL1 (and electronics iirc) so wouldn't surprise me
Loads, as in you know what you're talking about, or hearsay. A real sports bike and a race bike are two different things. IMO apart from bragging rights, an R is pretty pointless on the road. Is an R owner going to use the extra revs and pay the rebuild costs you get with the R?
You couldn’t ride it mate. It’s spins even quicker than the 1*99. You’d blow it up the way you say you bounce the limiter in first 4 gears. S is always a better option on the road, the skyhook suspension (or whatever is fitted to the panigale range) will be sublime compared to the R. But it’s not an R. And every bike over 500cc is too much for the road really
Öhlins NIX30 43mm with TiN, fully adjustable usd fork. Fully adjustable Ohlins TTX36 unit. this is what the R uses
If you’re actually interested see link below. Probably biggest difference is in the motor rather than chassis components although it’s manual over mechanical https://motorcycles.news/en/panigale-1299-s-r-3/
The differences are, in the guts of the engine. Which if taken advantage of, add up expensive rebuilds a lot earlier than the S engine that is in a lower state of tune. As for the suspension, it's manually adjusted rather than electronically.
Fellas, let’s not let someone remove the joy that is someone owning a true R They are a thing of beauty and arguably the best V2 built (excepting SL versions which very few can afford) I look forward to seeing a few more and maybe blagging a go on one when biking season starts again
I would like to know if he wants my baffles? PM sent @RichT - check your conversations notifications.
I will when I get home... any particular angle or detail.? "show offs" - I'd like to re-phrase that as happy to share pics with fellow enthusiastic people
@Expat Jack Apologies, been truckin & sleepin so don't get chance to check - don't seem to get notifications, so need to check my settings etc.
