To be fair i would not call it a parts bin special, its just nice to see a panigale with different paint for a change, the fact its a numbered edition is a bonus not a deal breaker,i would have still ordered one either way,not to keen on the gold tinted Akra, a step to far.I think its a well know fact that a v4 is on the way i am just not sure if its a 2017 or 2018. @El Toro ,just been browsing the 1299 forum they have the Panigale range project manager as a regular forum poster (TJ99) any chance you or Rob could get him on here,he would be useful to have on board.
How about the Desmo ? It was only supposed to be offered to 999R owners. Initially, they expected to build about 300. It then went to 1,000 and finally 1,500.
Not a member of the 1299 forum so have no privileges to contact/pm him, thought maybe yourself or Rob would be better at inviting him on board, his post seem pretty down to earth and useful. Ducati 1299 Panigale S Anniversario - Pictures and Info - Ducati 1299 Forum
Interesting that the new electronics can be flashed to any 1299 once the dealers have the software updates.
I've sent him a message to see if he can confirm and asked dealer. I was just about to post my next Life with a 1299 vid when I read the thread last night. If it's true it's something I want to mention. I see no reason why they won't offer it or do it as a matter of course for current bikes. It will get people who might be thinking of waiting to get a 2017 1299 (if if they will exist!) to buy earlier and also might convince those who miss out on the Anniversario to go for a 'normal' S.
I've just received another e-mail from my dealer. He confirms "one Panigale Anniversario per dealer". Others who have placed a deposit get "a spot in line" with bikes to be allocated by Ducati.
For the rest of us mere mortals are Tamiya doing a version? I would buy 3. One for whizzing around the carpet, one for the display case and one for trips away!! :tearsofjoy:
For those of us who aren't first in line at their respective dealer, does anyone know WTF is happening ?
The line I heard was that the dealer will sell the first bike to presumably the first on their list and the rest of the list will be up to Ducati to see if they can source one.
I have heard nothing so far, put deposit down on Monday 4th. If I do not hear anything by Monday which will be 2 weeks gives them plenty of time I would think, see what they then say and if its a no go I will get my deposit back and see what comes out next year.
John, my dealer informed me that before an official order could be sent to Ducati, the new bike had to be visible on the Ducati ordering system if that make sense! The bike did subsequently appear on the 8th July, so the details for the first in-line for a guaranteed bike can be entered on the system.
