New exhaust / de-cat options?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Neillfergie, May 29, 2013.

1. +1.... I bought one off a fellow member, had it re-packed and still found it too loud, took it off again and sold it on. Now back on standard system.

2. Did or does anyone have a video of those offending systems?

3. [IMG][/IMG]I fitted the mivv decat on mine with the standard cans originally but i couldn't live with the db it was stupid loud so a local company called made in metal made a link pipe and hanger for this spare can i had in the garage way better now and got an extra 4bhp with it.

5. Yes, quite loud :D

Does anyone know how wide the silencer can be without fouling the tyre/pannier guide?

Not a lot ! Clearance for the pannier is better. Andy

7. Yep, stock Scorpion and no damage to the tyre or the can evident so far. It's the only can Akrapovic currently do for the Multi and without a measuring stick 3.5 inches ish. Mine has never looked like the picture in the fitting instructions and when I had a 50 profile Angel fitted there was no chance the can would fit. Spoken a lot with Craig and Phil at Moto Rapido and they say a number of the after market cans they have tried to fit for customers are a bit hit and miss. I'm waiting for SC Project to announce their offering for the Multi in September or I just might try a Quat D which some on here rave about. Andy

8. Thanks Andy, I'll probably goto an exhaust outfit and measure up and see what can be done. In the mean time I need to find a decat mid pipe, any up for sale folks?

9. There's another recent thread on here discussing the same topic. I believe the Leo Vinci is one of the better quality pipes on the market. A few Mivv are around because people don't like the excessive noise. Andy

10. The Leo vince link pipe has a baffle fitted into it? Is this fitted inside the de cat pipe or is it some kind of outer sound deadening thing? I'm just thinking that I can buy a cheapy de cat pipe and manufacture my own baffle or noise reducing section. What you guys think?

11. From the pics on the LV, it looks like a small baffle chamber to help reduce the noise a bit

I'd be ok with a mivv too though, as I'd make sure the can does the deadening. Just need to find one now

12. Neillfergie,
That Chinese mid section, does it use the springs to keep the pipes together?

Cheers

Alan

13. Full termi or full Leo.

The leo decat with whatever end can is v good because its quieter than a full termi.

Mivv sounds harsh and throws the fuelling miles out whether running stock or race ecu. Ok it doesn't throw the fuelling out its just the fuel tables are no ware near suited to the size and shape of the Mivv.

Leo decat all day long regardless of cost.

14. Thanks for the info CJS, whe you say the LV is less harsh on the fuelling, do you think it will work on a 2013 GT with no remap?

15. Your looking at nearer ten Hp with a proper remap for fuel and spark on both cylinders :)

16. :D I was thinking more to get the decat to lose some weight, so that I can eat more cakes Whilst the LV plus a remap is cheaper than the Termi, it isn't too cheap when i have just forked out a lot on the bike itself.

I was considering running a decat with stock fuelling but I am a bit wary if the fuelling goes pear shaped, as I find the stock fuelling pretty good

17. I personally wouldn't fit any exhaust and not have a proper remap for both cylinders. This is only because I know how dire and out of shape the fuelling is on these bikes.

If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes and was blind to it I guess I would fit whatever pipe and ignore the important part.

Someone told me a long time ago. You don't get your moneys worth untill its tuned. Tuned being the final stage to compliment all the costly bolt on mods. :(

What I noticed on the 2013 with full Leo was that fuelling at full throttle only was very good. Everyware else in the map was dire.

During the tuning process I noted the egt and engine temp went down

18. Sent you a PM Chris
