  1. Yep just getting to perfect biking weather again. Enjoy the Picos, a group of mates from the UK are planning a trip there next year and 'll be meeting them (i'm department 11)

  2. Thankyou kindly!

  3. It is a great bike. Probably a bit more user friendly than a full fat 900ss, electric start and a sidestand..

  4. Thanks. I dont know whether it is age but i am veering towards older bikes nowadays. One things start having traction control etc they scare me, cos i probably wouldn't be able to fix them in my garage and i am too tight to pay someone else!

  5. yeah i am pretty sure it's the dogs. I have ridden round it for over 10 years but it is getting to the stage where i would like to have look inside/measure everything , although for everything else she has been pretty reliable...

  6. I am meeting two friends on Monday, off the ferry. Temperature is perfect now. Just need a (mostly) dry trip.:upyeah:

  7. I've been recommissioning a Darmah and on it's initial run out even though it would shift fine the clutch was real heavy & seriously dragged at a standstill. So I changed the clutch springs for 3 originals & 3 softer ones that were used for the singles (I forget which one) and when I took him out again it popped out of 1st a couple of times when pulling away....

I've heard it said that inaccurate shimming of the gearbox shafts is more likely the cause than the type of dogs used.

  8. Get them in your picture :)

  9. Me too, who wANt's to pay Einstein prices when you can fix it yourself.

  10. When i first looked into rectifying the problem, incorrect gear shaft end float was mentioned. So it's definitely something to verify. When yours popped out of first did go into a neutral or false neutral?

  11. Welcome from the VAR (83)...just North of Toulon. :upyeah:

  12. It popped out as I was letting the clutch out & I'm pretty sure it was 'false' neutral because it didn't have that same feel & clunk when putting it back into gear as it would from standstill. Although, as you probably full well know, neutral is a bit of a mystery on the old bevels.

One thing I can add is that I took it out for another shake down run this morning & I'd swapped out all the clutch springs for new (31.3 mm length & 2 mm wire from Laceys) and also swapped out the centre screw that the pushrod actions on. I also spent some considerable time ensuring the outer plate moved out square and used the standard (smaller) actuating arm to provide the maximum throw possible. And hey presto! there was no jumping out of gear. :)

Make of that what you will...

  13. bienvenue an all that! got to love a Dramah;) (sic)
