Keyless fuel cap is an extra and not fitted as standard. There was some bad feedback on the early ones and I'm too tight to pay £200 + for one
Arrived today and looks very nice Just need to take a deep breath and have a go at fitting and sorting the overflow and breather pipe. It could get messy
Stevie - how did it go with the overflow thing? I'm a bit concerned about 2 pipes into one and wondered how it was working out for you? Cheers.
Hi, to be honest I havent checked to see if the silicon is still there, I have used the bike a few times so will check soon. If not then a small stainless self tapper is going in. You dont put 2 pipes into one, as you sit on the bike, the left hand hose I ignored, just leave it as it cannot go anywhere and is easy to get again if refitting the original. The right hand hose all you do is poke the hose from the new cap down the middle of it, refit yer bolts and thats you done, No need to take any panels off, it can all be done with all panels in situ, good luck!! Its a ten minute job!! Maybe!!
Brilliant, thanks Stevie. I'll give a shot at some stage - I kinda wish I'd got the silver/grey one as the blurb with it says the anodised finish will fade with time. Still, we'll see what happens. Looks good mind
What I did forget was that the bolts are grey/silver Any idea where I can get some replacement black ones? Basic school boy error
Ok, everyone stop desperately searching for bolts ✋ I've got a set from Po Bolt ordered. £7.50 delivered - bargain
Hey, I just checked my tank outlet, the silicon did not work, didnt think it would to be fair. So now I have screwed in a small self tapping stainless screw. That has done the job, cheers.
Remember to put an Allen key in your toolkit that fits the filler cap bolts. They can be temperamental (sometimes mine wont open, so I reboot and shut down ignition) and if they do fail, they will fail closed when you have next to no fuel!
Finally got around to fitting the Race Fuel cap today. The cap is black so ordered some replacement bolts from ProBolt, turns out they are the wrong ones . The thread and head size were completely wrong, not even close. Anyhoo, relatively easy fit. Took the original fuel cap off and managed to pop off the left and right overflow hoses no problem. Fed the one hose that is on the new cap into the right hand hose and fitted a cable tie to the other so it didn't drop down. I fitted the original bolts and was surprisingly happy with the contrasting colour. Phots below. The first is with the original cap removed and the second is with the new cap fitted. And for those who it matters to...I know it isn't straight and I'm ok with it
That looks great with the white tank, you have any problems fitting? Hope my instructions were clear and you didnt drop yer best screwdriver in the tank!!!
