Who said anything about a Blade out performing a 1400? Again it comes down to rider experience & ability, on that front I personally consider myself an average rider and nothing special. I ride for fun and make decent progress without racing or taking too many risks. Some of the guys I have ridden with briefly pay no attention to double whites or speed limits in villages etc... In my mind that is playing Russian roulette with safety and with the law, thats not for me. If someone wants to race me I always pull over and let them go. No matter how good or fast a rider someone is there is always someone better or faster around the corner what bike they are on is irrelivant. If I was 18 over again and on a bike maybe I'd get drawn into that but at almost 40 and having a wife and kids means responsibility and maturity. Racing is for the track in my opinion or closed roads like the TT etc...
nah mate it wasn't if you read the post I said it was to paulof fastbikes, agree about racing on road is for tits , that's why we don't, all I said was anyone on here is more than welcome to join us for a ride, as it happens made some good mates through it, but some people think they go fast and really they don't, agree racing go to a track, when the flag drops the bullshit stops, what I was pointing out is the panni aint slow , and with a lad I know who rides one would keep up with anything, when we go out there is panni,s cbr 1000rr , zx10, zx6, r1, ktm rc8, s1000rr, and they are all much as much it all depends how big your balls are on the day,
I have a Blade and the Duc, I do not find the blade boring...lol when the little red light on the dash starts flashing it's far from boring...lol as for an 899 v Blade, well, I'll give ye a race...lol BUT can we put money on it, please, I'm a little skint that's all this time I will take the blade and you can ride the 899 haha.. Great read this crazy thread... Don't get me wrong I love the little Duc but the Blade makes it feel like a moped, truth.. Duc is an amazing bike great looks and I love it, has bags and bags of character (translate character how you like) and they are worlds apart and that I love too.. pick one over the other, that would be hard as for me, I love them both.. p.s maybe on a very twisty B road they would be well matched, but on a drag race down a straight, 899 v 1000cc sports bike...humm, I'd not like to rate my chances....lol Enjoy it, that's all that matters.
yeh suppose boring may be the wrong word maybe not a lot of character or the fk me factor ,ive had 3 latest blades and did look the other month at the SP but my mate hit the nail on the head your buying an 08 bike and that's the blades trouble, plus it does everything to good , im not the quickest but I could do 36 at cadwell and come of track and think nothing really , it is typical Honda , the panni has got its faults believe me ive had plenty but some thing is happening all the time which to me is a buzz, am I right you wanna race me and I can use your 899, yes please mind if I bend it I DONT mend it ha,
Haha, no you can't use my bike...lol use your own..., I'm not 100% sold on the looks of the 899 tbh I prefer my 848, but I will say after a good blast on the 899 it made my somewhat customised 848 feel ten years old! The 899 is a spanking bike, massive fun to ride, I just loved it, and yeah I think I'd choose it over a new blade, not mine but over a new one for sure..
Lol an 06 Blade outdragging a ZZR1400...was it restricted or have a just passed test rider? A Pani in a straight line is about the same as the rest of them; its the electronics that make a bike quicker these days. And the Pani's are excellent out the box, same cant be said for some of the other IL4's
In fairness think should be comparing cbr 600 with pani 899 and cbr1000 v pani 1199 . No one mentioned 1199 v cbr600 . If people don't like pani fair enuff sell it n get a jap simple enjoy weekend is upon us brum brum . I'd rather ride than argue .
the pannis comfortable easy do 250 miles a day , never had a early ducati but sat on one they fell stretched out,
I never have doubted that the Panigale goes like a bat out of hell, thats one thing I'd be sure of - I know a guy that bought a brand new Panigale and within weeks he stripped the fairings and lights off and uses it on track, I know he has a 1098 too and he said the Panigale is amazing on the track. For me both bikes side by side I'd pick the 1098 soley on looks, regardless of if the Panigale is the better bike or not. Thinking about it on the looks front and level of equipment to only other bike that really does it for me right now on the eye is the Triumph 675R, forget the power difference just purley on looks.
So many great bikes that's the problem, defo buy one based on looks as they are all great IMO, do they make a bad sports bike ATM? As an average rider I for one would take advantage of the fact I like the look of my bike, if looks were not an issue I'd buy a ZX10R or S1000RR
yeh tbh there isn't really any bad bikes , if you think we are more advanced on the road, than top race bikes not so long ago,
