V4 New Phone Compartment?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by El Toro, Nov 1, 2023.

  1. Part of the tank and away from where a tank bag would be. Like that.

  2. I understand that the power comes from modifying the pins on a connector on the Black Box System, so not a simple case of plugging the fan wiring into a connector, which probably explains why Ducati insist that it's installed and enabled by a dealer.

  3. Is there a service bulletin for this update?

Edit - Service bulletin is SVR-TSB-23-006

I will attempt to fit in the coming week or so. The additional pin is fitted into a spare slot on the large connector under the seat. Ducati suggested it may need coding in, but there is nothing in the service bulletin to suggest that. I will report back after fitting.

  4. So I fitted the new phone holder today according to the service bulletin and the fan doesn't spin. Looks like coding is required after all. Best get it booked in.

  5. Mines being fitted this week

  6. I have a standard iPhone 14 or 15, I forget which, with a simple apple silicone bump case and it’s a struggle to get it in and out of the compartment. I long ago ditched the built in sat nav so rarely use it.

  7. Never quite understand why anyone would want to put their phone in a compartment on the bike. Stick it in your pocket and forget about it.
Stick it in the bike and forget about it and it may well not be there when you go back to it.

  8. A thread discussing a cooling fan for your phone charger. On a motorbike. Dear me.

  9. used to leave mine on bike sometimes in small tank bag then someone mentioned might be good idea to keep it in your jacket in case worst happened and you were separated from bike and needed phone stuck in the ditch somewhere..........

  10. Just stick it on a handlebar mount if you need it on the bike. There's anti vibration cases for just the job. I wouldn't want my phone rattling around inside the bike, wrecking the camera and all the other internal gubbins.
