+1 for the Scorpions. Done 8k and still got life in 'em (albeit the rear is squared off from too many continental motorway miles)
200 miles scrubbing in the T30s yesterday and so far very impressed. Lots of grip and turn in quicker than the Scorpions did when they were new.
sorry to hijack... but I read a lot about PR4 over weekend and the fact that it comes in 3 versions, the GT being the one for the MTS because its harder. I spoke to FWR in London who said that they are good tyres etc and instead of fitting the GT version I could try the Trail version which is softer but not ideal for 2 up or general longevity, but in the end the Dunlop sportsmart 2 were really now a different tyre having the new build and wet grip added - ie more sporty less tour-y but still holds up nicely. anyway, fitted the sportsmart 2, very happy - same as previous sportsmart but faster turning definetly am no 'feel' expert and I was worried that the new version 2 would be worse, but can definetly say that the feel a little better for those of you on Dunlops. I guess that the ultimate test would be for me to fit PR4's having always had the dunlops but I presume that would make the bike less quick steering and more tour-y which is not what I want/if you want a more sporty tyre. bugs
A heads up re the PR4 versions for the MTS! Now comes in 3 flavours!!! Standard: For normal sized bastards in all the normal sizes BUT now REAR: HARD centre section, medium shoulders, FRONT: medium centre section, soft shoulders...same as PR3's. Trail: Only comes as 110 front & 150 rear and is weight/speed limited. For crazed nobbers who think the MTS is an Adventure bike ;-) Same carcass composition as above. GT: All sizes but with stiffer sidewalls for fat bastards and fat bastard bikes such as the R1200RT's and K1600 and the like. )) Same carcass composition as above.
Need a new rear tyre, currently running PR3's, thinking of opting for a PR4 GT for rear as front PR3 still got plenty of life left Although don't normally mix tyres supplier did not see an issue with 3&4 combo, thoughts ?
Can't see why not and it's an option I'll be considering when my PR3 rear finally gives up the ghost.
By trusted local(ish) rubberwear outlet Wraysbury Tyres (based in Chertsey, Surrey?!?) can supply the GT version for the Multistrada for £124.80 front and £150 rear both are the GT versions. 120/70 R17 and 190/55 R17 MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 - Tyres On-road | MICHELIN - Motorcycle - United Kingdom - Motorcycle-website Fitted with balance to loose wheels... Well 200+ miles today to scrub in the new PR4s through the great roads of mid Wales. A bit damp in places so good test today in mixed Conditions. Compared to the Scorpions they turn in quicker and feel more planted in the bends. Confidence inspiring when moving on and on the damp roads. Could be the new tyre feel, but First pair of Michelins I've had and early impressions are good. Not sure which "model" of PR4s they are. Nothing obvious on the side walls. What should distinguish the different models?
