Plenty of girls riding scoots when I was a young scooter boy. Loadsa scootergirls on scoots. Depends what scene you were into. If it was the fizzy scene you were into Paul, then the only smelly finger you'd have had half a chance of was from scratching your own arse. Twas a lads world was the fizzy world, however the scooter scene was much more mixed. Not just on gender, but on just about everything. So girls aplenty. My wife rode scoots and has a full license. I wasn't into scooters in those days, or Fizzies. My first bike, at 16, was a Garelli Tiger 50cc moped. Italian tastes even as far back as the late 70s. I loved that bike, shame it got written off as I've just checked on ebay what they go for these days; I fell off my bloody chair! And to think I only paid £150 for it.
