the current car returns around 27mpg, and I am not looking to change to be frugal. I just fancy something newer and fun - whilst having 4/5 seats I am being informed too........
Saab Aero. Cheap, reasonable power (230bhp). 4/5 seats. Comfortable. Nice and smooth and you know it will be solid as a rock. Which is why I bought an 07 model. I have no problems getting the car serviced.
Hmm, interesting idea but a bit sluggish. And the last one I drove handled like a barge - a rudderless barge.
Thats why theyre cheap. I got more bang for my buck. Still sound cars though. I'd have payed a lot more for an equivalent Audi or Merc. A lot more. Thats why they were too good an option to ignore. I was having to use my campervan welding savings to pay for it thanks to my old car topping itself.
Ive been told to steer clear of selespeed on an Alfa, besides if you have an Alfa it should be a manual. Thus I had to concede as she doesnt moan about me buying bikes and stuff.
told by whom? a saab sales man?. again the 2.4 stillo will use the same system,P.D.I the car worked on it since it was new bought it at ten years old no probs ever. saying that it was a country car so a lot less wear and tare. yet driven hard often. i haven't bought a car from a stranger in many many years so i guess i get a better chance of a good one. i am now touching wood but again in many many years never had a problem with fiat or alfa not so much as a warning light. i do 20k a year in the car alone.
Nope just general auto type stuff. Ive driven a 147 with it and it was fun. But wifey wanted a car with a big boot and not an Alfa. I dont think she likes them. I do.
I had a 9-3 1.9 ttid aero, auto with all the bells and whistles - had nothing but trouble with it. DPF, EGR kept playing up and cost a fortune to get sorted. smoked like a 40 a day docker, too. looked tidy and had a pretty good sized boot, even with the roof folded down into it.
Ive only had to replace the fuel sender, which was knackered when I bought it. When the car went to reserve it would put the car into 'safe get home mode'. I got that fixed and its been perfect since. No troubles at all. I like the understated look of a Saab. But I really wanted a tidy black Alfa GT with tan leather interior that was local to me. But I got outvoted as it was a manual.
1,500 mile on the clock now. Not completely sure about the built in Garmin sat nav, last one had the Merc command system which I feel is better. Economy is looking good. Average of 53mpg since new. Did a 200 mile round trip on the M way, at typical M way speeds of 70 to 80mph, returned 66mpg. Overall happy. Would like the premium pack, but, could not get that and stay in budget.
