  1. I wouldn't worry about it too seriously. They'll only have a word if you're blatantly timing yourself, and generally don't check

  2. I've got one of those AIM tracker/lap timers. Discrete they ain't.....

  3. And it must be shite doing track days with no timing.... As long as you manage to stay sensible, it's great fun watching your lap times.

I go on euro gigs with Tracksense and a live timing screen is standard.

  4. As said above just be discreet

  5. RedLine have them live as well

  6. Never had any bother with NL using a laptimer and that was mounted on the yokes

  7. Surely a lot of new bike come with built in lap timers if caught just say "it's standard fitment mate."

  8. Don't know about the Pani, but its predecessors still needed a plug in and a pit wall receiver.

  9. It’s all down to insurance.

  10. I will be back at Cartagena April 20-22nd.

  11. Starlane stealth GPS. Sick it on top yolk, switch it on, it maps the circuit, makes three sectors, flashes at you when you improve a sector, long flash for a PB lap, downloadable data & laptop analysis. Wire it to bike circuit supply. remembers tracks as well.

  12. See you there.

  13. I thought my 1.55 at Cartagena was poor after a winter of no riding. But seems I might of been a bit hard on myself. 1.40 seems to be a quick time round there.

  14. They're good bits of kit. I've had a couple of them on my bikes before I had bikes that had it in the Dash

  15. Just wondering what (if any) lap time threshold there is for moving from inters to fast.

  16. It depends on what time of your you go. If you head out in Oct/Nov/Dec, it'll be largely full of track-dayers having an end of summer jaunt. In Feb/March, and to a lesser extent January, it'll be made up of lots of racers getting some winter miles in and setting up for the UK race season, hence why the groups have Middle/Fast1/Fast2, whereas the end of year are standard lower/Middle/Fast

  17. If I was to take a stab at lap times, I'd say end of year, you'd want to be low 1:50's to be in the top group, and beginning of the year, you'd want to be mid to low 1:40's.
That'd be a wild guess though, and in reality, taking the right lines is more important than outright speed

  18. Thank gawd you said that. There I was toying with the idea of a debut in Fast group in January with a 1:54. More seriously though, I will be running slicks for the first time and hope to go sub 1:50.

  19. First two years there I was doing 1’50’s and ok in the fast group. A fast pace in that group would have been 1’45 and it was end of the year (Oct/Nov)

I then went in Feb and most thebfat group were well under 1’45, with the quickest dozen easily sub 1’40. I was doing 52’s and didn’t feel too bad in that group but took a step backwards as after day 1 it was clear these guys needed less hassle. And took no prisoners;)

  20. Yeah I went in Feb and loads of really quick guys there. It' a tricky track I thought. I run 1.35 at croft to give a comparison.
