newbie with a 600ss question.

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by j13cooper, Jul 30, 2013.

  1. Better to see if there is a drain hole in the inlet cap of the zorst can and seal the joint properly......

PS..........I notice that my carbon cans don't need a drain hole..........because I forgot to drill them when I pulled the ally sleeve off and changed it for carbon.

  2. Id go for a good long ride, come back and let it cool a bit and observe. Then take the cans of and see what is inside.
At 16k miles im hoping the seals on the head are ok???? Not sure about the water channels in the engine, maybe someone can enlighten us as to the water route on this bike. But i cant see condensation making that much water IMHO. It's like a mini desalination plant you have there.

  3. Where is the water in a 600SS?

    Apart from in his zorsts.....

  5. I know.

    My 750 has done 31K 1997.

So you are sure it isn't petrol leaking...........??

Therefore it can only be condensation (unless of course your battery breather is badly routed or blocked).............Do you garage the bike? Or put a cover over it outside?

If so, let it cool down before you put it away to bed at night..........

  6. well read through this thread the other night oddly enough while checking for oil leaks on my 750 ss
found similar wet marks under bike thought I had another oil leak from somewhere else :frown:
only to find its moisture leaking from lowest joint on the exhaust condensation !!!!!!!!!
well hasn't leaked from there before and only run for short bursts while testing and setting up
    so yep condensation

  7. Has to be condensation..........can't really think what it could be...........and yes, I reckon it would have smoked a bit when he whacked the throttle open...............

................it probably has so much water in the zorst can packing that it will take more than 50 miles to clear it...........

  8. My cans are so well sealed that I can't get them off!! 49,000 miles and not a drop of smoke:upyeah:

  9. Bugger off..............yours hasn't been run for long enough to create any condensation let alone a threat to the environment.

  10. fucking things air cooled...........do you understand the difference?

  11. when it is running it smells like it could melt the Ozone layer all by itself, its waiting for your magic finger mate:biggrin:

  12. here i am again. its definatley coming from the pipe, i got to work at 9 and went to look at the bike 11 and it was fine.... just popped out 10 minutes ago and its now got the liquid up the pipe!
    damn this.

  13. FFS stop whining. You have several options now - choose ONE and get on with it...................

  14. You are fu**ing rude.

  15. Thank you I really appreciate your knowledge.
I'll go for a big one this weekend.
    Thanks everyone

  16. Now I can stop my 'whining' and my panicking.... and feel a little silly. Ive now learnt I can't be 100% sure of anything...
It was the rear shock. Its obviously ruined and is dripping on to the pipe!
Explains the poor handling a bit too.

  17. Make a note of that.........'must look harder.........2 / 10'

I have a working shock for a borrow if you get stuck...........Make sure you get the right one if you change it.

It will be either a Showa or a Sachs Boge.......probably the latter.

    AL

  18. I Have a Sachs boge shock that I bought but is wrong for my bike as I have a alloy swing arm. If you want it £20 plus the postage. I can send a pic if you need.
