I believe you can still buy Termis for the Sport Classic range, if you can't find any via UK dealers try searching the Ducati.ms site - there was a dealer advertising Termi systems without the airbox lid & ECU. Other options - Zard now appear to make cans for the GT1000 & possibly the Sport 1000 if the shape of the swinging arm is the same): BellissiMoto - Zard Exhaust for GT1000 I saw an article a while back regarding a couple of customised Ducatis, the exhaust systems came from Burchills in Walsall. They could probably make something to your requirements if you want to be different. Check out the gallery & click on the photos of the Ducatis: Motorbikes
You're very welcome Triang. It's worth repeating Bungle's advice regarding the ECU reflash & opening the airbox lid if you fit a non standard exhaust. Might need to have the TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) checked as well. The original Termi kits came with a modded airbox lid and a Ducati Performance ECU, but I'm not sure that any after market cans are now supplied with them. Happy hunting & keep us posted.
I totally get the interest in a Sport Classic range. Bikes these days are so much more than the road conditions permit that going back to something beautiful and less powerful seems to make increasing sense. I'd sooner have an MHR Evoluzione than a Panigale, I think.
If i had the cash... Let's face it, at about £10'500 with only 3'000 miles on the clock from 2009, wouldn't you be tempted? DUCATI Paul Smart 1000 LE, Occasion, Benzin, 5'450 km,CHF 15'500 - MotoScout24 or even a new one: http://www.motoscout24.ch/de/d/duca...ke=13017&nav=73&page=7&vehid=625530&vehtyp=60
I suspect quite a few of us feel the same, particularly as we grow older. Each to their own, there will always be a good market for sports bikes, adventure bikes & cruisers. In the same way there is also a market for relatively uncomplicated & comfortable bikes. The Sport Classics such as my GT1000 were built down to a cost and this (for me) made it an affordable option. I bought my bike as a 2-year old used model with just 2,700 miles on the clock. It already had the Termi kit and a hugger fitted by the previous owner. Some complained about the quality of suspension etc. I never had a problem as I didn't buy the bike expecting to ride like young Mr Stoner at Phillip Island, but over the (almost) 4 years I have owned the bike there have been a few modifications to suit my taste (and budget). I regarded the bike as an opportunity to change it gradually as I grew to understand what I wanted from it & what it could deliver. The bike is serviced by Nelly at Cornerspeed & I don't muck about with it. I'm not a great mechanic & I wouldn't insult the maestro by ruining his work - especially after I have paid him! I can't think of a nicer guy who knows more about Ducatis. I still look forward to every ride & will be interested to see if Audi-owned Ducati re-enter the retro market, especially if other retros such as the new Honda 1100 start to rack up sales.
Rudolph, I feel a whole new thread coming on about this very subject!!! Maybe in a few days...
