Nexx Xr2 Helmet: Reviews Here?

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by pisquano, Jan 8, 2015.

  1. Is the XR2 a later version or a just a more expensive model??

  2. Newer version. I bought my Nexx 2yrd ago it was £300 back then and no mention of XR2

  3. Wow the NXR is supposedly lighter i just spoke to the shop. Tomorrow will try them both but the NXR comes in some amazing colors

  4. I have the Dunlop mat white/black

  5. hi Cupid, went to get geared and tried both. the nexx simply won't fit... but the NXR is great - I think I will go for that one. too bad they didn't have the colour i wanted. I would say it's roughly the same weight as the nexx

  6. Have you seen the colour you want online?
You might be worth waiting a month or two as they tend to release more colours this time of year, check out the shoei website, I have seen them on there and when you ask the dealer about them they tell you they are not out yet. I know two of the new colours are being released in Feb.
Boxhill (Ryka's) is only 2 mile down the road from there I was in there yesterday Sunday :)

  7. I like Shane Byrne's one. Will check on Shoei's website then. Thanks :)

  8. You can also try P&H motorcycles at Crawley they have a wider selection of Shoei's

  9. Just like to throw my opinion on Nexx.
Had my Nexx XR1R Carbon for 1.5 years. It's a good fit, light...but my god the build quality is awful. It is literally falling apart. I've not been rough on it, and I treat everything I own with a reasonable amount of respect.
Stitching coming off from the neck guard. Front vent smashed by a bee (it was a BIG bee) and even then, when it wasn't smashed it whistled and slapped open past around 40mph.
The vent control on the top fell off, leaving the vent flapping about till I pulled it out.
The visor has cracked around the pin lock mounts, which might be normal?
But worse of all their fastneing system for the visor is absolutely laughable. They snap at the drop of a hat.
Lovely, but expect to buy a new one each year. For £300 i am very disappointed.
    AVOID! :)
Oh, and to make matters worse all this happened just after the warranty ran out.
I will be going Shoei next!

  10. I had one and returned it after a week as it fell apart.
    Avoid if possible.

  11. Last time I use any magazine reviews or Ride stars as the sole purpose of my Purchases. View/Buy in person wins every time.

  12. I've had an XR1R for a couple of years, the only problem with it has been the visor clips that kept popping off. replaced them with the upgraded parts FoC and no problem. Mine is in perfect condition after a lot of use and is super comfortable and amazingly light. Much better than Shoei and Arai's i have had before.
The visor opening is one of the widest too giving great vision, I used my old Arai once and it felt claustrophobic after the Nexx! Great values and highly recommended

  13. To follow on from Spr0ut, a mate of mine had the XR1 and had multiple problems with the visor mechanism
falling to bits when out riding, losing bits on the road and having to go home and order more bits under warranty.
He had a medium speed low side in it and it was completely trashed. Admittedly he didn't suffer anything more than mild concussion, but the shell was badly cracked and had lost all rigidity down one side. I wasn't impressed at all.

  14. Most recent update - the Visor securing/thumb clip on the bottom edge has snapped the locating part off the inside. It now means it leaks air slightly...
Ugh I can't wait to get rid of this piece of shit!

  15. I've had the Nexx for a couple of years and had no problems with build quality. Love the light wait and field of view. Pinlock is superb and the visor change is pretty rapid. On the downside it is noisier then my old Arai but at half the price I guess I can't complain.
