Sounds like a party!! Here's the race report from Assen: Ducati TriOptions Round 7 – Assen TT (NL) - Wilson 48
All setup here ready at Silverstone. Cold, grey and windy but at the moment, dry. Got the famous ducati cup cakes ready and waiting in the awning for tomorrow's guests!
Happy enough with free practice. Ended up 11th after being 8th for quite some time. Silverstone abrasive surface killed my rear tyre so couldn't stop the rear from spinning! Most likely wet tomorrow according to the forecast so let's see what we can do in quali at 9.30am (if I'm awake!) ead:
Unfortunately I wont be coming now. My two friends that were coming now cant and with the forecast aswell I'll watch it on the TV!
Really frustrated with today's race. We made some logical changes to the bike to improve on what we had in qualifying, but it turns out we went too far. Too soft and the bike just would not turn - like turning and oil tanker! Tomorrow is looking like its going to be dry, and I've got some work to do from row 8!
Made the best of a bad situation yesterday. Start from row 8, I made it through to 16th despite the safety car which meant I only had 5 laps to get anywhere. Posted my fastest lap on the last lap to put me on the back of a gaggle of other riders - all I needed was one more lap!
I was sat in Woodcote A an followed the live timing BSB do on the app during the race. Good to see Nicky setting a decent pace and would have been great to get in amongst the group of riders all together. It has gone quickly as a season, knowing they have announced the same series for next year, are you in again? More sponsorship needed I'd bet.
Hey, I've had some amazing support from the forum members so I'm really hoping we can build on this for next season with some help from @Rob  The plan is still to compete on the 899 next year but of course I need to find some good sponsorship if I'm to mix with the guys at the front. A lack of testing time has really hurt my progress this season. If we can raise the money to cover tyres and entry fees we stand a good chance of some decent results. There are couple of riders who have managed to secure sponsors paying them 10's of thousands (reportedly £50k in one case). I'm not looking for that level of backing (although I won't turn it down if it was offered!). Our entry fees this season were £2400 and the tyres amount to £5000. These are our largest single costs, but of course the smaller donations go towards race fuel and other consumables.
Great shot! Maybe some kind of subscription arrangement might get those that can / want to afford to give a bit each month? I know the ideal situation is to have funds up front but at least with a steady flow the meeting-by-meeting costs will have the sting taken out of them. em
I'd suggest start now and have @Rob open a forum area focussed on the sponsorship. The subscription idea isn't bad, you might get quite a few more open to donating a smaller amount but every month. If you start now and get going, the idea won't need fresh legs come the spring and you're playing catch up.
...or maybe a '48' club? Bit of a cliche but if you decided to go for some kind of social / event with the 'club' an easy-ish number of bods to manage.
All good ideas guys. I will try and get @Rob and @mattmccabebrown thoughts on what they can do to help out. I also want to get the forum members more engaged with the season, got any ideas?
