Nicky Wilson Ducati 899 Trioptions Cup - Ducati Forum Crowd Sourced Sponsorship!

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Rob, May 11, 2014.

  1. You make some good points and personally I can see what your saying. Are you really thinking of putting in a couple of grand though?

  2. Avanti don't currently sponsor anyone, as we have done over the past couple of years.

If we could get title sponsorship on a bike then the exposure would be worth every penny, but this is why we need to be very careful about the terms of the sponsorship and it would require a contract and so on.

  3. Well, I didn't expect a return. Then again, I also didn't exactly throw £2,000 in the pot. I look at this as a relatively small gesture to be able to say you have an interest in helping someone do something I aspire to but will never be able to do. Therefore, if we all chip in a small amount, as crowd sourcing works, then the sum of the parts is enough to make a difference and we can say as a community that we had a hand in helping. I expect nothing back so anything that comes of this is a bonus and actually, @Nicky Wilson giving us updates makes a series I'd watch but not really have any passion for, a new experience so I'm already ahead in my book.

I like the idea of watching a race, seeing the bike go past and thinking that in a small way, you had a hand in it being there and racing. I can't get that with Rossi, Marquez etc. even if I did give up the V twins for a Fireblade.

  4. Yes, I think we're coming at this from different angles, but there are points for everyone to consider.

  5. I'm sure that Nicky would be very interested in speaking to you about some full on sponsorship, but if it helps, I can also give you some great coverage when commuting if a deal falls through ;)

  6. Nice :)
More than happy to give away free stickers with every order ;)

  7. Feel free to send some my way..I love stickers :Headphone:

  8. Couldn't agree more..and no one is forcing anyone to chip in and help the guy race :)

Chuck him a couple of grand and i bet he can sort out his scrubs for you, actually buy his tyres and take them when used, hows that for ROI ;)

  9. Hi @antonye
I can offer title sponsorship if that is what you're interested in? - I have sponsorship packages ready to send out if you need further details. Just say the word!

Just to be clear though, my family and I have invested ~£20k to buy the bike and get it ready for this season including the spares parts. Any donations from the members of this forum (greatly received :upyeah:) will go towards the repairs of the brands crash and also general running cost of the bike.

@Count has got the idea of this crowd funding spot-on! - I couldn't have said it better myself.

  10. So the sun came at a Donington today which made a pleasant change! - Shame there were so many red flags however. I guess everyone was getting excited with some warm track temperatures??

Played with a lot of settings and found a better feel from the bike after we went softer and lowered the overall ride height. Annoyingly though, the bike has got a strange characteristic in middle of fast corners but I think we might have an idea how to cure it.

I've got some go-pro footage to put up later for those who might be interested?

  11. *WARNING* shameless plug incoming! :Woot:
If you are after any genuine WSBK parts for your Ducati then take a look at targetshop988 on ebay. They buy directly from the factory and have a lot of parts (and I mean A LOT). Even if you don't see what you want on ebay it's worth contacting them anyway.

Just remember to tell them I sent you! targetshop998 on eBay

  13. Thanks for putting up the vid Nicky, really interesting to watch. Can I ask if ~ 1 min 44 secs is a general pace for the guys in the series? I've been up at the Haslam Race School last month and heading back again next week and nice to know what the fast guys racing can do so I've got something to put my (much slower) times into context!

  14. Looking forward to catching up at Donington next week. Don't worry, I wont ask for the keys ;)

  15. Hi @royalwithcream - I'm expecting the front row to be 8-10 seconds quicker than that. My aim is to be in the 1.37s by the end of the weekend. :D
