A) It confirms how many they have actually made.... B) They are recycling frame numbers from demo or show bikes that were built as display and no duty paid on them. Eitherway, adds to another element of the sh*t show. I do struggle to understand though why someone who has £50k to spend on a bike and wanted a carbon one would suddenly decide to take a Chrome one instead. It's not just a slightly different colour, it's a completely different concept and goes from being classy and understated to completely out there!
I suspect the same as you, very very few. However, you said it didn't matter if they work - to some it will.
I’m sure all who spunk 50 grand want it to work. But reliability won’t be in the top 10 reasons to buy
Sorry fellas, if you rate reliability on any scale against buying this bike, you have wasted your money. You’d be better with a 1950’s triumph. It would be more reliable
@bradders What evidence do you have? Are you an owner and experienced reliability issues? Are you an engineer and have had sight of manufacturing blueprints/engine apart to give you cause for concern? I'd be interested to hear as I have a deposit down on a new Norton.
I remember a good friend of mine tutting when I said I was going to buy a Ducati (848 EVO at the time) saying he'd heard nothing but bad things about build quality, electronics failing etc etc...the thing ran like a swiss watch in my 3 years of ownership...funny thing preconceptions.
Spot on, the proof will be in the pudding as they say. I'd be a bit nervous but if you are not relying on it as an everyday commuter any niggles will just be niggles. I do hope you get the bike you want soon, the rumours are worrying but they are just rumours at this point
In fairness I'm winding all yis up !! Im sure the show bike at the nec and its horrible chrome wrap with badly finished edges has no bearing on how Norton wish to proceed ,the bikes when they arrive will be top top !
Nope. None of those. I know a few who have the last new Nortons. And you only need to look at the race results (have they finished a race?!) if you’re happy, it’s your money, then enjoy it
lets face it, there are loads of things to spend our money on, but we all make our own choices, and often not rationally If it doesnt turn up its only a minor annoyance. If it does and proves to be a royal PITA then I can hopefully sell it on (or reject it if its that serious). In the mean time the lack of info is a frustration, Plus a good discussion point while we all speculate just how bad things might be This time next year we could all be riding Nortons

Has Garner really got such a grip over the media that this fiasco is being hidden under the covers carpet, and why? Call me thick but I just don’t get it. Still very envious of anyone that does get their dream bike.
That's how some people work, all smoke and mirrors and no substance. If you read the group accounts they have lost £2 million to date and capitalised all the development costs (£4 million to date). Development costs are worth jackshit if you don't have the means to put that into production. The auditors have put so many qualifications in their report, that it's not possible to make any sound judgement on the figures they have produced. It says so much that the accounting year has been extended to August so they have put off making public the next years figures.
There is also the fact that the bike hasn't been for a SVA test yet, so isnt registered. It has to get taken back by Norton, to get it tested at the DVLA test centre, this month.
So they delivered a bike to him, that he couldn't use or register because it didn't have the SVA done - so they could get his money? I hope that they are collecting it and delivering it back at their cost. Shonky is the word I believe I am looking for!
