Norton Deposit Info, It's Demise & It’s New Owners

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by John W, Oct 16, 2018.

  1. I wonder if there is enough stock of parts (and they’re owned by Norton?) to actually build and finish orders? If so it will be in the administrators interest to pay staff to complete orders and get paid?

I’ve worked for a few printing companies in the past who have gone through administration and this is how they usually work. Having said that they’re also a bunch of vultures who are in it only for themselves (apologies to anyone who works in that trade, just my experience)

One place I worked at that went under, as an employee and so a creditor, I would get creditors reports. Remember they extended the administration another 6mths to get last £60k from customers who hadn’t paid. 6mths later I received another letter to say they had now completed their administration process and were winding the company up................their charges for the last 6mths?........£60k funny that : unamused:

  2. Agree completely on the vulture administrators - have taken serious damage from them in the past. My neighbour has 3 Nortons with deposits paid - must diplomatically broach the subject with him.

  3. There’s is no way on God’s green earth they’ve got enough parts to build anything. It all just beggars belief. The staff turnover has been huge in the mid management layers. I remember talking to one of the lads that they’d spent 6 months chasing TT glory rather than building bikes not to mention the cost.

  4. Google "Chargeback" it's a voluntary scheme subscribed to by the banks which covers debit cards, I got £5,000 back from a golf club when the company running it went into liquidation.
You need to speak to your bank very quickly and be very insistent as they have no legal obligation to re imburse you. I was lucky, my bank (Nat West) were very good and I got my money back direct into my account in just a couple of weeks.

  6. ITV News at 2200. Apparently they've been researching Norton for some time and it goes out tonight.

  7. I think it might help a few people to look at the story on
The Guardian website right now, essentially a more in depth version of whats on News at Ten tonight.

I'm afraid its kind of worse than most people have grasped.

    Meanwhile re Spondon:

Unfortunately that was a few years back. He turned Spondon into a housing estate but kept the name so he could grab R&D tax rebates off the wages bill, did the same trick with the Academy.

  11. I am guessing a few members on here are going to be out of pocket. How much was the deposit on one anyway.

  12. Some had paid in full it said on the News... :worried:

  13. Read that piece on the Guardian web site earlier this evening ,pretty shocking. I put a £500.00 deposit down Feb 2017.

  14. There's an awful lot left unsaid in that it seems.

  15. Likewise,I cancelled my subscription last year!

  16. McPint won’t be getting his money. He touched on it in the podcast last week (worth a listen to) and how they had no idea what they were doing. Made him think about giving it all up. He made a few references to people paying bills they owe...

  17. Maybe he can get Honda to buy them.

  18. He’s on Kawasaki this year. Impression from interview was Honda ended abruptly
