1199 Not Too Sure What To Do

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Russell, Jun 23, 2014.

  1. I think that if it's a 'modded' base bike but with Ohlins and oz wheels and not tat bolted on then it will still be really desirable! That said it's also 4k cheaper new than an 'S' so ask yourself which is more attractive used

  2. as above my mates got loads on his and makes very little difference to px price , but then again stock S are fetching poor prices ,do you really need top of range for road, you can only go so fast on road, so really its the bling factor , but its your bike so go for what you feel right , ive an S and went out with some one on a base and he was going far to fast for my comfort, so base models have a lot of capability ,

  3. Ttx shock and cartridge kit more than enough unless you want gold

  4. I actually quite like the standard forks on the base model. The stock rear shock however isn't the best IMHO.

I'm thinking that this will be a forever bike so maybe modding will be the way forward.

  5. not that unusual , i've bought my s not far off that price - and it was NEW!

  6. So i could potentially get a 1199s brand new for £12k ish?

  7. Good luck with that, think someone has been chewing KAT...

  9. An 80's pop sensation?

  10. yep, his name is Rev Paul Flowers

  11. russel don't think youd get much change from 19k for an S , K TECH 35DDS SHOCK AND 25 SSK FORK KIT WOULD BE MY WAY TO GO ,

  12. Russell, i kind of pondered the same issue recently and ended up buying fgrt and ttx plus adjustable ohlins damper and may ultimately do wheels but the standard ones have grown on me tbh. The aftermarket ohlins are a massive improvement over std, are sprung to your weight and are infinitely adjustable. You know your bike and as you said I also felt this was a big factor as I've had mine from new. You also have the advantage of personalising your bike as opposed to owning a 'standard' S. The mods you are talking about will easily sell if you were to turn your bike back to standard if you fancied a change.

  13. Am I right in thinking you only paid 12k from a dealer ???

  14. I've been following 1199 prices for over a year and I've not seen a nearly new base for this price anywhere. Let alone a 1199s model like another poster claimed. If I could get a 1199s for that I'd buy one without hesitation and worry about the ins and fueling afterwards.

  15. Set the bike the way YOU want it .

  16. wow, that's a long time to look for a bike!
BTW, i didn't say that i've paid £12k,i said that i paid not far off that price.
and yes, it did come from UK ducati dealer

  17. im wasnt actually seriuosly looking to buy for all that time as ive just purchased my first house in oct last year so bikes took a back seat but its something to do whilst at work when boredom sets in. Im now towards the stage that if a deal was presented i could buy something but ive got no idea what i want. Im tossing between a used MV F3 675 and keeping my 848, or just swapping my 848 for a 899 or 1199. However if a dealer offered me a 1199 at a bargain id buy that.

  18. Buy an 1198. Theyre awesome.

  19. Isn't 4k from 16k = 12 k
    Not being flippant ......
Just interested as I want to buy 1
And interested in dealer vs private prices
