1200 DVT Now Out Of Warranty

  1. Personally buy on a 3 year PCP change every 2 years so always have manufacturers warranty it works for me no worries about expensive repairs or aftermarket warranties

  2. Took my DVT in for a service today, it's still there, when they changed the oil they found half a circlip stuck to the magnetic drain plug, they think its comes from the base of one of the valves Ah......

It's just inside the warranty, rides ok without any symptoms so they are not too concerned (I hope) but are doing an internal inspection of the top end to make sure, full markers to Mike and the team at Riders, also got an enduro to play with.

  3. I am beginning to have the same thoughts, had 3 MTS and all have had issues, DVT the most , fork seals, IMU fault, fuel sender, seat cover, side stand, warped discs, and the latest after an oil change they found part of an engine circlip stuck to the drain plug magnet which isn't encouraging so starting to come to the conclusion that I certainly don't feel comfortable owing one outside of warranty so PCP is beginning to make sense.

  4. I didn't know you could change after 2 years of a 3 year PCP deal, why don't these people selling tell you this stuff ?

  5. Yep you can done it several times you can also just hand the keys back after 2 years and just walk away if you want to doesn't effect your credit rating
The bike , car value has to cover the outstanding balance

  6. Prefer owning stuff out-right but I do understand the PCP incentive.

  7. PCP is just another type of finance you can pay the balance and the bike is yours
Not many people can afford to pay.cash outright.

  8. I have always bought my bikes outright and kept my ZZR1400 for 7 years without any additional warranty or worries as it never caused a moments problem, not something I can say about the MTS's I've owned. Love the bike but no confidence about owning one long term anymore.

  9. That's my thought as well I still have the Blackbird bought new in 96 it's done over 100k MLS would go anywhere on it without concerns
Multistrada not so sure that's why I will change it after 2 years

  10. I hear you, I've had 2 blackbirds and put big miles on both without any problems with either of them. Why the hell cant Ducati produce something more reliable, seem to use substandard parts on a premium cost bike, resulting in all these issues which most experience.

  11. I'm not sure that is at all true. You certainly can't state that everyone on these forums is indicative of every Multistrada owner, and it is more likely that you won't even hear about owners who don't have issues but only ever hear about owners that do ... which is typical of internet forums.

I had a recall notice drop through my door at the weekend. Not for my Multistrada, but for the Yamaha Tracer I bought nearly 2 years ago now. There's a safety recall for the handlebar mounts which can come loose. Japanese manufacturers are not entirely blameless and I'd take an engine going pop over the handlebars coming off in my hands any day.

    Just saying.

  12. Can't disagree, my ZZR had a recall to check the frame but other than that no issue for any of my jap bikes, I have had 3 MTS , original 1200 with ohlins, skyhook and now std suspension as I prefer it, all 3 have had a catalogue of faults, dash, switchgear, starter, etc all well logged which is way over the average, my current one is about to fall out side of warranty which is scary, so much so that I've just bitten the bullet and bought a brand new 2017 model and taken up the extra 2 years warranty so I can keep this one knowing it's covered when (not if) something happens, why not change brands you think... well despite all the heartache it causes I still love the bike, the power delivery the looks and nothing else puts the same smile on my face.
