Yea I did Nick! and a thoroughly nice bloke he was I stood jaw flapping with him for a long time... the other fella with the desmo MotoGP bike, the WSB 999 and the desmo road bike, was an aquired taste I reckon. Yes indeed, but at the time to tune a motorbike engine to that level was spectacular, now with materials and manufacturing methods available you'd probably get there, especially when you start chucking in pneumatic valves and the like, but yes, as Mr R. says it essentially mimicked (in a very simplistic way) a big bang V8.
I couldn't help noticing at a recent event that the Honda CBR 600 looks really good, whilst the current Fireplace looks complete pants. I think the NR750 still looks pretty hot, even if it was a tad lardy and not really an out and out cutting edge sportsbike.
