Its 3 numbers, 3 letters. I'll get the ruler round it tomorrow and check border size, font height and the rest, but I'm confident enough that it's legal now! Thanks!

mervyn - this is just my personal opinion, but your "personalised" plate just looks daft. It obviously means something to you, but to be honest my reaction is "what is it actually meant to say?". People who manipulate the letters on their plates, or add screws in odd places to make the letters or numbers look different are, in fact, breaking the law. If you can't handle the fact that you got pulled over for doing something illegal, that is your problem, not the fault of the cop that stopped you. The true MORAL of the story is don't have an illegal plate and expect not to get stopped for it.
Having an altered plate can also be an offence of 'perverting the course of justice'. Which carries a bigger consequence. In so far as you are disguising the true identity of the vehicle. Having an altered plate is to Plod, the same as driving past said Plod whilst giving the 2 fingered wave! It's so obvious, why do it? It also gives Plod a valid reason; you are committing a moving traffic offence, to breathalyse you. Then spend a long time looking over your pride and joy.
I think you must have me mixed up with someone else-I don't have a personalised plate on anything I ride/drive.I don't begrudge people having a personal plate if it's relevant/gives them pleasure, but not for me. Another relevant point is your vehicle insurance. If you play about with your plate and it is no longer road legal you might find that your insurance company might latch on to this in the event of you having an accident on the public highway.Any excuse not to pay out springs to mind.
And yet the same DVLA sell these plates, knowing full well that they will be 'modified' to suit the purchaser's name/nickname/business/fetish etc. Seems a tad strange to me?..
when they sell it to you there is a reminder with the plate that the numbers should not be misrepresented in any way shape or form.
I'm not doubting that is the case but they know that's what will happen, many of these so called 'personalised' plates only become personal by altering the layout.
I will apologize to the OP for this going off subject a bit, and I'm not sending anymore PM's out to try and keep this thread from deteriorating anymore, so my last word on this is, there seems to be a few on here that don't like someone having a got at the pettiness of my ticket, well I hope they can put they’re hands on they’re hart and say "I have never broke the law" (maybe they are Ex or Serving police, and of course they never brake the law) Guvs.
Sorry Guvs but do you honestly believe you feel you were victimised or picked on. From the photo of your Boxster your plate is deliberately mis-spaced and completely illegal, what do you expect?
I've just received an email from the maker of said plate and they confirm it's legal. It seems the sticker saying 'show plate only' was an error. Excellent!
Good result Ian-you have got the right info after 36 posts.Must say the question of plate legality was livened up somewhat by an interesting post? along the way.
I have to say it looks better too! The irony being the 9 by 7 its replaced was illegal (due to the logo only) but looked more legit'.... I have had a couple of bikes with total pisstakes for plates. I now am at the stage (age!?) though where giving the police reasons to stop me is just a bit boring. If I'm acting like a tosser, fair enough, but if I'm behaving, then I'm after being left alone, and giving them an excuse to stop me seems a tad daft. To each their own i suppose.
Hi Ian. End of the day a good result (Keep the Email handy) and a good post to end this thread I think. Guvs.
