Not everything you see on TV is actually correct / accurate Just to add that all that is required for the rear retro reflector is for it to be visible from within a series of specified angles from the rear and for it to be appropriately marked.
Might be worth asking on Ducati Owners Club forum. Is In Moto what was Ducati London South? If so they are still trading.
Getting hold of Number plates appears to be getting harder - in person. I tried 2 different local branches of Halfords to get a bike sized number plate earlier this year. The first told me they didn't have stock of the bike sized plate and didn't know when they would have more. The second told me they no longer do bike sized plates. In a similar vein, I recently needed a new plate for my trailer which uses the same almost square style one as the rear of my Land Rover. I'd stupidly left my last plate on the back of a hired trailer and they'd binned it after 3 days! Both the above branches of Halfords told me they no longer supply that size. One local motor factors said they'd run out and wouldn't buy in any more until they had orders for 3 or 4 of them. Luckily from this I found another local Motor factors that had stock of both Bike and LR sized plates as well as the more usual sizes. Pro-Parts Waterlooville if it helps anyone.
For an age related plate format could look on bike trader and see if any 04 dukes have original plates. Long shot but…
Here’s a pic of an original Ducati dealer plate from Dec 2001. I also have a pic of a Baines Racing supplied period plate if needed.
I have one reflector I call it my mot reflector and I stick it to whichever bike is in for test then remove it after and stick it back on the garage wall. Never had a problem from the filth.
Indeed, other than plates already fitted to bikes I've bought (that I changed shortly afterwards), I've never had a bike plate with a dealer name or any branding and never had any hassle from the law over plates, even when stopped for 'other reasons'.
About 15 years ago when I got back into biking after a long lay off I did a Bikesafe police day to check I was still competent. During the course of the day I asked about the police attitude to non standard number plates. They weren’t concerned about them, except to say that if they were a non standard size or font they were perfect excuse/reason to stop you if they wanted to. So be warned.
