Number Plates (again)

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by RC1, Sep 28, 2022.

  1. 7x5 for me 2 lines bought mine from eBay, in one line it’s illegal and obviously so 7x5 not so much IMO.

  2. The day I got stopped I was on my way to Paignton Bike Night - it's a good job the plod that stopped me didn't go down there - they would have had a heart-attack looking at some of the highly illegal plates on display...

  3. Single line plates are illegal on bikes, no matter what size they are.

  4. They look cool though… I always had single line plates on my road bike. Never got pulled. Mind you, you don’t see cop cars anywhere….

  5. I have just fitted a JDM "smallest legal size plate possible" on one of the bikes (it has a '1' in the number), it's tiny and only slightly bigger than the obviously illegal plate it replaced but significantly smaller than the 9x7 legal plates on the other 3 bikes

    3 of the last 4 bikes I bought had small plates, all now run legal ones as it's one less thing to get stopped for :D

  6. :rolleyes::rolleyes:..........

  7. If you live in Lincs or north norfolk, stick to standard - big purge this year on plates, dark visors and aftermarket exhausts

  9. Hmm, it would be nice if they could have a big purge on burglary, muggings and general theft.

  10. There should have been a purge on some of the bike colours and leathers back then.

  11. Only go to Lincoln and that’s in me van.

  12. I remember the police around there from years ago being the same, they’ve always been fun squashers over that way.

  13. I've been 'done' a few times over the years for this. Worst one was for Pipes, Plates and Dark Visor on a blindingly sunny Summers Day on a trip to Devils Bridge in Kirby Lonsdale. Had to go to court for that as it was 3 offences. Think I may have got away with it if it wasnt for my ex who was Pillion shouting at the filth for stopping me for Loud Pipes (Carbon fibre Microns, was on a TL1000 at the time) saying ' How f*****g dare you stop us for noisy exhausts when your f*****g Helicopter wakes us uip at 3 Am in a morning flying over our house?' o_O

    IIRC the Plate was 1" smaller than Standard.

    Have always used the DoT Approved Standard Sailboard for the last 10 years, I got sick of giving them my money.
