Nurburgring This Weekend?!

Discussion in 'Rideouts & Events' started by Monners, Oct 6, 2015.

  1. Absolutely. For the 'Ring you must have two mirrors, and you must look in them frequently. Otherwise you won't last a lap.

  2. Glad I did a shake down commute into work today after changing the oil and fairings last night. I whipped home at lunch time and got a new rear tyre put on, adjusted my chain, bled my clutch and finally got the Ducati Data Analyser with GPS working since upgrading the firmware :)

  3. So much awesome in the van with the 1199 and @jasond_mon 1098. Oh and a trials bike haha

  4. Only managed three laps today as it was wet until noon and there were loads of car crashes shutting the track but I did 9min 36secs on my third lap so going well considering it still felt like a sighting lap.

It's a manic place. Certainly not relaxing for bikers! So many amazingly fast cars flying around and constant crashes shutting the track for periods of time. If its very busy then they don't let bikers out for twenty minute to let the crowds pass or not at all if there's been a crash and any fluid spill.

Fingers crossed for the forecast sun tomorrow :)

  5. Just spent 30mins slowing down fast traffic after a poor guy on a Panigale 1199 went down hard. He was going racetrack quick speeds.

  6. nasty... bloke ok?

  7. Yeah nothing broken but I think he hit the ground pretty hard as he was quite spun out and had to lie down after the adrenalin wore off. Bit of concussion probably. The bike wasn't good.

  8. :upyeah: well main thing he's ok. other than that how ya getting on? loving it?

  9. Getting into it a bit now. It's hard to get any rhythm as you don't want to commit to much and there's so many crashes slowing you down.

  10. Sounds like a nightmare to me..... keep safe.

  11. Not my cup of tea but glad you are enjoying it there.

  12. Little vid from yesterday. It's amazing how little of the gradients you can see on the vid, the place is seriously up and down all the way through! I'm not very quick at 9mins 50 here but the suns out so it's a nice trip around the Ring!

  13. I went back in 2004 with work. We had the place to ourselves (as ford had it bookedfor us ) and I definetly wouldn't fancy it on a bike.

  14. That would be a dream! Theres so much traffic that I was very wary of over committing anything.

  15. I believe it changes around 1000 feet over the course of the track up and down, was always a problem withthe Gamer boys, played the track for hours and hours getting to learn all of the bends, but once they get out there it all changes because of the highs and lows changing so quick :)

  16. Considering the yellow flags, did dam well, but not sure I could do it on a bike not used to things overtaking me :( I don't look in my mirrors enough now, and then having to remember to move over to the right, wold love to do it though on an empty track

  17. Awesome! I'm not brave enough to tackle the ring on my bike.

I'd love to see a lap of the full circuit on your 1199 dude, that'd be awesome! And any pics.

    Stay safe.

  18. That is the full circuit on my 1199 :)

I'll post a bunch of phots later as well. Took a Porsche 911 turbo and a new Nissan GTR around the local area as well. Those were serious fun.

  19. I'll have a proper watch at lunch ! :)

  20. I guess this is what closed the track yesterday afternoon!
