Yep apparently the Porsche in the video I posted earlier skidded out on coolant from an earlier crash. I'd definately go back for more as it was great fun but it's certainly not a bike friendly place. That said they do do everything they can to prevent bike crashes. If there is any sign of the track being slippery from oil after a crash then they dont let bikes go on but they're never going to pick it up everytime.
I think the videos really distort things. That section is actually pretty damn fast and there's a really big gradient change.
Many of those crashes are panic ones, nothing to do with the track. Have only done half a dozen or so laps but, other than when it's raining in one part and not another, never thought it dodgy or dangerous any more than cracking along on the road
Pretty much agree with you Bradders, apart from having groups of 150mph cars up your ass suddenly if you are on the racing line and too slow and said cars smashing themselves up randomly I generally think it's safer to be quicker than the vehicles around you on the road but that's not possible with all the Jedi Ninja Nutters at the Ring, risk of fluid spillage from crashes, and me not knowing the track. Can't wait to have another go though, might do a KTM Adventure weekend mission on a random weekend. The surrounding roads are epic even if the Ring is closed
Way bigger balls than me pal, cars up my arse at speed on a track would be my nightmare scenario . Think its been mentioned before but full licence less than two years ( I think?) to where you are - Rated...
Tbh I stopped riding it after the second year, only regret not doing when mates come back exvited and I wasnt part of that. The roads are where its at for me in Germany. Absolutely brilliant. Could move there tomorrow, if I spoke the language and got a job that paid what mine does..
looks great i have a few questions ,taking the lady down the castle route in a car , is the track open midweek? how much? can you just turn up? and can she sit next to me whilst i drive round? ta
You can take whatever you want around the Ring as long as it's road legal and has lights and mirrors.
LOL at the video, that's my boss passing you at 3'30" in the green GTR. Glad you enjoyed your trip. I was out there somewhere working with punters.
I and a mate were heading back home to my house here from Spa last night in the dark. We were in a GTR and hit 200mph, strange how the other cars going our way seemed so slow LOL, Good fun watching the fuel guage move.
Opening times, allways check before you book a trip, next years dates will be online early next year. This year 27 euro per lap If she wants.
That looks particularly suspicious to me . Just happens to be a camera on the one corner covered in oil . The doubt in me says someone put it there . Could have been said camera man . Maybe .
Sorry to spoil your conspiracy theory, but sadly due to the great ammount of use the track gets during tourist sessions, inevitably is that vehicles drop fluids. Hoses split, pipes rot, rads split, gearboxes get cracked, sumps get cracked, cars drive off after crashes, water pumps fail, belts give up. Sadly the list goes on and on. Also sadly some drivers are unaware untill too late, contrary to belief a car/bike can lose some fluids before it is obvious. Irronically i was discussing this very thing with the guy who holds the outright lap record for a bike yesterday evening because he crashed 2 weeks ago at 130mph on fluids. It is a big problem here that there is no real answer for. In nearly 20 years of visiting the ring and 10 of them having a house here, 5 years instructing at the Ring, i have never known of fluids being deliberatly put on the track to create accidents.
And the locals will know the corners to hang out at. Like I said, enough of those were talent, lack of, moments
