If you like the bike (and your going to keep it) but all the stuff that you dont like stops you riding it then just upgrade the parts that you dont like.... Upgraded the brakes on my rsv4 to m50's, changed the rear shock to a ttx2- and plans to update the front forks to NIX30 internals....its a little 50 50 at the moment as im waiting to see what the new z1000 H1 looks like and costs ( but i suspect itll be out of my price range). Did the same with my z1000 (NIX 30 internals definately coming for that!) Just cos a bike is old doesnt mean that it cant be updated.
There are going to be a bit different just enjoy both Have a 1200 multi and a 99 R1 and still love taking the R1 for a blast
