I too was a Mod (2nd time round) and scooter boy. The GT200 or TV200 as it was also known was a cracker. I had a couple and used the gearbox from one in my AF GP250. (i junked the 250 and put a ts1 225 in its place, the bore was too thin). It had a great 4th gear ratio and made mine hit 96mph (briefly with 2 fingers hovering on clutch). Ive still got a scooter.
it's a short life Mervyn, if you think you will get enough pleasure just from beholding the machine (and you are happy it's a good one) with the occasional ride, plus no concerns over resale return then you know my answer I'm sure CrystalJohn would supply a similar machine for sitting on if you haven't already?
Good on you.I sheared the crankshaft on mine when I came down through the box to fast, and went into first gear at to higher revs.Made a very nice bang and a very big dent in my wallet-I was only an apprentice at the time.
We used to replace the conrod and big ends with Yamaha RD250 ones on Lambrettas. Stronger than the shite stock Lambretta units. Plus we'd lighten the flywheel. Even the piston i used was from a japanese bike on the 225 just cant remember which one. The 250 modification used a bultaco piston and I seem to recall it having something odd about the piston rings. Cant remember lol. Only the casings and the gearbox was lambretta.
good job I understand your patois, despite all your best efforts to be incoherent. I'm at work and its in the garage, under a blanket. Ive no photos handy.
I only need to helicoil the clutch cable adjuster screw and re-inflate the tyres, oh and wire up the handlebar switches. But will I? Will I f....
Is this the bike OP is talking about. DUCATI 999R XEROX 2006 MOTORBIKE | eBay What a great bike at a fantastic price.Get it purchased asap before someone else does.Only thing is its a shame it doesn't come with more top notch extras. If it was mine id end up spending a fair bit more getting it how I want it.BremboHPKs Dymag carbon wheels, STM slipper and Akrapovic evo full system would be a good start in my book. Very surprised seller has had 'offers' at that price.Id tell em to fuck off. That bike will only go up in value and only other ones ive seen for sale are at least £2000 more than that sellers price.Looks like a genuine bargain to me. The only down side is the later R models are quite pricey come service time but then most seem to sit around unused and polished to death lol.
I have spoken to the seller asking him to send me pics of V5 details, original sales invoice and his land line no.He is selling it via a friends ebay acct.He doesn't have a digital camera so he will get his friend to take the pics of the docs. As I can't easily view the bike and documents I have to do it this way.Pity he hadn't got all this info ready to supply. Perhaps I have got very cautious in me old age.
Are the forks OEM. I dont recall them having black forks. . Plus what you describe appears dodgy. You are right to be cautious
As they say 'a fool and his money are soon parted'.I would sooner be cautious and lose the bike, than loose me money.
Yep 06 999R Xerox rep had the black ohlins forks as standard. Id do the usual checks and get down to sellers address asap with cash if all is ok.Cant see it being for sale for long if all adds up. Ive sold lots of stuff for friends no problem via my ebay account. Some people just don't do internet or ebay even in this day and age.Could also be worth getting service docs and contacting dealer to make sure everything was spot on. Almost 2000 positive feedback which makes me think ebay seller is very genuine if HPI check ,dealer checks for service all add up. Imho by far the best looking 999 to ever leave the factory gates.
I would be paying cash on collection but only if the details I have asked for check out.If someone gets there before me and buys it,so be it.I am always finding the 'must have bike' so another one always comes along.Ideally it would be local to me and easy to view and check out.
Trouble is those 999R Xerox reps come along once in a blue moon.Might be worth contacting Ducati Coventry/JHP as one of there customers had one up for sale not long back.Think they wanted a bit more for it though than the ebay one. The 06 999R is one of the few ducatis that would make me consider selling my 916SPS to buy.The only thing stopping me is ive invested a lot of time and money getting my 916sps to the spec I want and would have to do this all over again with a 999r xerox.
