  1. WAH900ss Thats brilliant thanks for that
Bikes really coming together now, one issue i am having is the 7.5 amp fuse blows when i pull up the Front break lever, i assume its a short in the switch maybe ?

  2. yep, suspect corrosion in the micro switch or maybe the wiring is crimped / damaged, great to hear you're making progress.

  3. WAH900ss Yeah shes really coming together, got to the point yesterday where i could fire her up for the first time and then Bloody disaster, snapped the Petrol tap spigot off which was a repair from when i first got it so ill get a new one instead of bodging it

  4. Looks to be coming along nicely Si
I've seen an SS/SL with a Monster shock fitted (pretty sure it's similar to the ST one) and the bike sat far to low at the back. A shock off the later IE model SS is a good mod, it's about 10mm longer than the carby one so lifts the rear a bit.
keep up the good work fella :upyeah:

  5. Gillan 900 Cheers Ian, ill look into the IE shock, im really pleased with how shes coming together, need to sort the Pet cock out and fingers crossed shell be running, been a bit of a mare with wiring as im rubbish at that but got it done in the end.
Any progress with that body work ?

  6. Getting some goodies together aswell :upyeah:

  7. Very nice [emoji41] where did you get those from ?

Progress is slow on the bodywork fella, I'm having to work outside but I have started on the seat unit now the sun's started to shine a bit [emoji6]
Spent hours getting the fibreglass off the inside of it and it's now back to how it should be. It's had a repair on the right hand side which I'll sort properly then it just needs a good wet sand to get any remaining paint off.

  9. That's cheating, hahaha [emoji6]
They look good though mate and it does tidy them up...

It took most of an afternoon with the sander to get the paint off that seat ! I don't even want to imagine how long it's going to take to do the fairing panels [emoji15]

Keep up the good work, it's going to look really good when you've finished it [emoji1303]

  10. Snapped mine right at the start. They get very fragile in old age.

  11. @wolfram ...Yeah your not wrong !! got a new one and that bloody weeps from the base slightly but still usable.
Any way after a slightly painful two weeks of trying to sort out why i was blowing fuses every time the brake light came on (dodgy bullet connector) and why i had no spark (slightly iffy fuse) i finally got to the point where i could get her started and guess what ....she fired up first prod of the button !!!! idle needs to be fine tuned but well chuffed, its a bit chuggy but the fuel is five months old so a bit of fresh and she should be spot on.
    Well pleased :upyeah:

  12. well done! tis a good feeling when they burst into life :upyeah:

(I had a similar issue with new fuel tap leaking, the two parts that screw together R/H & L/H thread need to be closer to each other, sorry not very clear, but try not to make the assembled tap too long)

  13. Ok ill try that cheers for the tip

  14. Something i did notice was that the Hexagonal bar on top of the right coil (looking at the bike from the rear) was getting really hot, to the point where i couldnt touch it, the left was fine, any ideas ?

  15. electrics are not my strong suit, but that sounds wrong, wonder, could the insulation have broken down? or might a bad earth be responsible? (just tried to call my electrics mate, no answer, will try again later)

  16. @WAH900ss brilliant thats great thanks so much.

  19. That looks nice and tidy Sev, cheers for the advice, ill go through all the connectors, earths and everything else and see if it makes a difference, if not ill get some new coils, mine have been rattling around in a Cardboard box for the last four months so could have become damaged.
