1260 Oil Change Time....

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by pcn1, Mar 29, 2022.

  1. Brake & clutch fluid duly checked and did require changing.
The bike was also MOT'd, with the overall cost £507......YES that much
I did query the time charged for @ 3.75 hours, when the bike was in and out of the workshop within 2.5 hours, as I was there and saw it released.
I was advised that, the charges were simply based on what Ducati set-out as the charging structure and they weren't able or allowed to deviate from these, irrespective of whether or not they were necessary.
So the 3.75 hours was a predicted timescale, to which the hourly charge was applied, leading to the overall cost + parts.
By the time the next service comes around, which will be the desmo' + air-filter change, with the bike now out of warranty, I will be looking to reduce costs by going somewhere else, like Luigi Moto in the Bristol area. :expressionless:

  2. That seems like a real piss-take!
    Riders?

  3. Stealers, that's outrageous.

  4. That seems very high, and quite unreasonable. Did they quote for the service when you booked it in?

  5. For the service cost yes, no statement regarding the timeframes involved, but re-stating the Ducati cost estimates on which they were required to advise/accept.
I did query this at the time, however, accepted their explanation regarding the Ducati position.
Perhaps I should have been more forthright, which ordinarily I absolutely would be, but with the service cost close to what I've paid previously and which I hadn't/didn't challenge, I left it. The brake and clutch fluid changes + coolant change at circa £180 together, plus the £30 standard MOT charge, all added to the overall cost. The fluid changes in terms of material and time are utterly ludicrous TBH.

However, as we all know as Ducati owners, there is seldom anything cheap about owning and running these machines, so end of.: unamused:

  6. I think situations like this are in the extreme, but good on Ducati for doing it and the guy got lucky. However having a FSH is not a guarantee it will happen. 99.9% of the time when your out of warranty your on your own.
So you could say the money you save by doing some jobs yourself you can put towards any repairs later down the road.

  7. I've ordered up the Motol 7100 oil, 5 liters for £49.99 from the 'bay.
Will drop by Snells Alton soon and buy a genuine filter and sump plug washer. Put receipts' in history folder.
    Job done :upyeah:
Money saved just bought me some new Hood Jeans

No disrespect the Ducati shop techs, they know more than me. But I can change my own oil, with no time constraints so I know its done exactly how I want it, and give everything a good clean while I'm at it :)
