thanks mate for the explanation ,,,, I guess a capful in the tank will suffice ,,,,,,,,,,, ( nice that some folks still want to be helpful rather than just be smart asses !!:Banghead: )
Don't think he meant to sound smart ass like . Its just a strange question. Castrol R is a two stroke oil and not used in four strokes . I wouldn't advise putting it in your petrol either its only going to cause something like a plug to foul up .
Ahhh the aroma of R . I used to put a cap full in all my strokers starting with my Yam YDS3 and finishing with the RD400 all these bikes had oil injection systems but it was for the smell you understand. Moving on a few years I built a Rickman framed Triumph Trident T150 , the engine came with R in it but I used mineral oil(R is vegetable based ), the 2 should not be mixed ! I just changed oils and 500 miles later bigends ect gone due to clogged oil lines ect. I eventually got that bike sweet , 850 barrels , 30 mm cards and a full F1 replica open exhaust , the sound was stunning.
Why do serious subjects on here always deteriorate into bullshit, usually from the same few who have nothing else to do ?
you crack on an put 2 Stroke oil in your petrol then mate, and at the same time debate whether you should use 95 or 98 octane...
prob advice like yours I can get anyday, fortunately some other folk can ( although not as smart as you in your opinion ) can just be friendly and helpful,, whatever..
Any chance of getting this thread back on track :Bored:.....i'll repeat my earlier question, can any body tell me why I should be using Motul instead of Silkolene?.......sensible replies only please
As far as I can tell, people use the Motul 300 for running track days and other such, where the engine is living at 75% + in the rev range. I can only assume that Motul 300 gives better protection - either due to high revs or lots of semi-cold starts of the motor during the day. I have yet to find out what the problem is with Silkolene. I've used it several times in my 999S, but I do many more road miles than I do track days and I do tend to change the oil every 3000 miles instead of the recommended 6000 miles. No problems as yet. I too would love to see an answer to your question
I ran my road and moto x bikes on castrol for years, changed the oil every 2000 mls on the road bikes, then 2.5 yrs ago tried motul and when changing the oil after 2000 mls, it was so much cleaner, viscosity and decided to stick with it, plus for track bikes as per above comments, it's a lot better for dukes that stay in the higher revs more often..... Hope this helps
It is somewhat of a fallacy that dirty oil isn't doing it's job, in fact the opposite is true, combustion and the operation of an engine produces waste/contaminants, these should be held in suspension in the oil until deposited into the filter or if they are smaller than the filter medium "holes" held in the oil until draining. So dirty oil has done its job, the detergent has kept the engine internals clean. This is completely "not" taking in to account any other factors of the oils performance.
