So am I funnily enough...........Now that I know it works and I have a pattern to use, I can make an improved version.........I'm looking for 'flattened' expanded diamond mesh, rather than the woven stuff which isn't that strong. Don't forget my cooler is high up and enclosed in some sort of square boxing which can't be removed........ Fitting the top bracket was a bit of fun because there is nothing to fit it to........ In the end, I used 4.5mm pop rivets in the top bracket (2 front and 2 back)........the swelling of the rivets means the bracket clips firmly over the top frame of the cooler without interfering with the matrix........
OK......I didn't take one when half the fairing was off.....but I will do one in a while 'through the hole'......... Incidentally, this is raised exp mesh...........if flattened, the air flow is reduced............and when raised it is obviously 'thicker' for trim fitting. Woven mesh will mean a trim along all edges, so either perforated sheet or exp mesh is best........ Perforated sheet will reduce airflow a lot, unless the metal between the holes is vey thin....... Ally mesh and perf sheet is easy to find.........harder to find stainless.
Get a twin headlight fairing and reposition the cooler just below the two (smaller) headlights, out the way of grit thrown up by the front wheel, Cost is 35 quid for longer oil lines.
