1200 DVT Oil Leak ..

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Warnie, Apr 2, 2022.

  1. Correct !!

They were shot, so I replaced them and the slave cylinder gasket and all is definitely well this time. It's good to go out without the smell of burning oil!

Nice easy job for a change. I might change the slave cylinder next for an uprated one, as this is my 1st bike where I use all 4 fingers to pull the clutch in.

    Cheers all.

  2. The early slave cylinder used to rotate the push rod when the clutch was in whilst sitting at lights etc, this is what caused wear on the seals (it happened to mine). The replacement and later ones have a small additional 90 degree part which prevents the push rod rotating.

Oberon ones are better for clutch pull

  3. Hello friend I am facing the same problem, can you help me with the part I need to replace?

  4. Hey do you happen to have any pictures of the repair? Might be having the same issue with the bike I've just picked up.

  6. I had this thread open for two weeks and closed it on Tuesday night as did this repair Monday night and it has sorted it.

Your pics look exactly same as what was happening to me - 1.98 for the o rings and one of the easier jobs as no tupperware to remove. Took me longer to go and get them, then to fit them.

Such a simple one to rule out, looks like you already have Oberon slave fitted as well so if it comes back after doing the o rings start to be concerned.

edit: expect a few drops under the bike if you haven’t cleaned it *really* well throughout before/after the repair (ask me how I know), the heat will eke out and drip anything you missed.
